Hey, everyone has their opinion. Me, while I don't like the new She-Ra that much, I think Cal Art style could fit in various shows, like the aformentioned Star, Gumball, Adventure Time, Steven Universe and Gravity Falls. You know, shows that are light hearted, but have a dark edge to them. However, in shows like She-Ra or Thundercats...
CALARTS, STAY THE FUCK AWAY.
CALARTS, STAY THE FUCK AWAY.
I think the thing is, Classic He-Man and She-Ra used a LOT of rotoscoping, to try and get away from the uglyness of purely hand-drawn characters. Heck, even the classic Disney animated movies used a LOT of stage work to get character poses and actions right, and that was translated into hand-drawn art afterwards.
Nowerdays, it's easier to kinda say "I don't care if joints don't move like that, just do it", especially if you're making 10 episodes a week.
But I get you, I understand where you're coming from. I like classic She-Ra and He-Man for the actual proximity to real that the characters look and move, but I like the fact that the modern one has a lot more freedom of movement to it.
Either way, OMG THEY'RE HUGE! MORE!

Can I just say how much I love the muscles in both this pic & the one that was posted before this one cause I really do, & I'm a big fan of your work (muscle related or otherwise) & I can't wait to be able to commission you when I (eventually) get a Paypal, So once again love your work
I never saw She-ra or He-man as a child so I can't speak in those terms.
From what I understand, He-man was mostly about selling action figures and trying to cash in on what was popular at the time, She-ra was simply a way to cash in with girls is that of boys.
The writing for this show is not exactly Shakespeare but in my opinion, any cartoon show that tries to do more then get laughs and cell merchandised deserves a pat on the back.
The new She–ra has character arcs, internal struggles, interaction between characters and they made a bold but I feel necessary move by adding some gay characters.
Not that I love everything about it, I am not a huge fan of the anime style. But what really bugs me is how little Adora grows when she transforms.
I for one love the idea of this girl turning into a towering, well toned, amazonic beauty.
But the amount she grows is so slight it's hard to even notice and it makes me wonder why they even bothered. And what strange that everyone says how Adora turns into an eight-foot tall woman when she can't be over 5 feet.

You know the term "cal arts style" was coined by John K, you know the Ren and Stimpy guy who had a lot of skeletons in his closet.
But also it didn't refer to cal art style as modern folks know it but rather things like Thundarr the barbarian, Herculoids and incidentally He-man.
