I was so impressed by all the love airplane dragons got back when I originally shared my concepts in 2015. Since then, I still see them pop up once in a while. A lot of people ask me if they are an open species. I thought I would make a brand new ref. This image is free for you to repost/share as you want. I wanted it to contain the basic information on them and the rules!!! I hope to make more adopts again in the future as well!

Important Disclaimer: I am not claiming to own the idea of or be the sole creator of "anthropomorphic planes". I just created a specific style of them (like how aeromorphs are a style of anthro planes.) many years ago, when similar concepts (in this style) didn't really exist at the time
You can simply just make an anthro plane, call it an anthro plane, and not be associated with my species, because I do not own the concept. If you are inspired by the way I design and stylize them and want to use the airplane dragon name, I would appreciate a small credit when uploading your work! That's all! And not to mention they are literally a 100% open species you can do pretty much anything you want with!
Q: What ARE plane dragons?
Airplane dragons / plane dragons, are a species I made back in 2014-2015. I always liked the idea of anthropomorphic planes, but most of the content around it was a very specific niche community or a specific style. I designed airplane dragons in an attempt to make a cute, mass-appealing anthropomorphic plane with dragon and mammal characteristics, and accessible to everyone. Information and lore on airplane dragons are left vague so that you can create your own canon. I wanted them to be open to all ideas and concepts and without major restrictions*.
Q: Can I make one?
Yep! They are an open species, meaning you do not have to pay or get permission to make one yourself. You can make as many as you would like, commission others to design them for you, make ones for friends.
Q: What are the rules or specifics of designing one?
There are no strict rules or limitations to designing an airplane dragon with one exception*. They are meant to be open to allow you to design it with all your favorite preferences or any ideas you want. Like big claws or little paws? Like commercial airliners or fast jet planes? Want something sharp or angular, or round and soft? Or maybe something different like a space shuttle or helicopter? Want it based on an animal? Chubby or buff? Any colors, markings, body types, shapes are allowed.
* The ONLY restriction is I ask that you do NOT make an airplane dragon with any symbols or design motifs relating to hateful themes. I have zero tolerance for these kinds of designs.
Q: How big are they?
Any size you like, there is not a set size. They can be sized like a human, or like a real life plane.
Q: How do they fly?
That is up to you to decide! I like to imagine them getting a running start as their engines warm up. Is it magic? Is it mechanical jets? Up to you!
Q: What can I use them for?
You can draw art of them, write stories, roleplay, sell adoptables and ychs, make and sell merchandise like stickers/pins, they are COMPLETELY open for use! Omg Wolfgang these are so cute! I had a dream earlier about making little like...plush, I think, models of the EVA Units, so maybe it was my brain telling me about some itch I have to design a creature with biological and mechanical features (like your plane dragons!), so I’ll definitely have to design one soon !
