Hey there everyone, I’m going to be moving away from Furaffinity for a little while! As you all likely know, there was a huge outage across FA for the past two days, an outage that caused many problems for the fine folks of the furry fandom. It was during this that attention was brought to FA’s lackluster code management, which as a programmer, tells me that the site is capable of doing similar things again. If not often. I want FA to improve, and the best way to do that is to give it a little competition. So, for the time being, uploads on FA will stop and I will be moving to Twitter and Weasyl. I’m also doing this as a chance to start over in a sense, distancing myself from the goofy pixel artist I used to be. I’ve changed a lot since then, after all.
There’s a lot to unpack here, so here’s a small Q&A.
Q: Will you be deleting your art here?
A: Heavens no! I am a huge advocate for data preservation, I wouldn’t delete this account on something so petty! I will stop uploading here, that is the verdict. The page will stay in-tact even if not in use.
Q: Will you be gone from FA entirely?
A: Not entirely, just as an uploader. There are a ton of artists here who I know cannot make the jump to another platform, and I wanna keep showing them love. Basically, think of it like me becoming a lurker on FA and an artist everywhere else.
Q: Will you ever be back?
A: I will if FA fixes their code, or at least makes measures to improve it. FA won’t have the incentive to improve while it’s this much of a powerhouse in the furry art website scene, so I will strive to give it competition until that improvement happens.
Q: Will you come to other sites? Weasyl isn’t the only competitor, after all.
A: That is true, but I will only go if there’s a big enough push. Uploading to a ton of sites is hard, and while programs like PostyBirb make it easier, I would still need to deal with comments spread across many sites. I’m open to it, but it’d take some convincing.
