They're rebooting TaleSpin with a grown up Kit Cloudkicker... which you can see in the small image in the upper left! The small image on the upper right is what young Kit looks like...
What the hell? This is just horrible. It looks more like someone took Baloo and grafted a comedy bear head on it. Even the colouring it wrong. And Kit was fairly slim.. what happened???
Anyway, here's my take on what an adult Kit Cloudkicker would look like.

The thing is, being a bear doesn't necessarily mean he's going to look like Baloo. Rick Sky is also a brown bear character in Talespin who has the body shape that we would have expected Kit to have as an adult. So being a bear in that world doesn't automatically = fat.
I'm pretty disappointed by Kit's design, too. I would have expected him to take on more of the daring sky pilot look, and not the portly air trucker look.

Yeah, I was going to originally counter with Rebecca, but it's clear that she and Molly are thin as a purely aesthetic choice to differentiate the sexes. Plus most male bears in the show ARE portly, so it seems like the "fat bear" design is intended by default. The Rick Sky example is the only one that's different, but it does at least show that even male bears can come in smaller sizes.
Even in real bears, they're not all fat like Baloo. That's a cartoon stereotype. Not to mention that Disney reuses Baloo (Little John, Baloo from Jungle Book, Baloo from TaleSpin). But more to the point, it's rare in cartoons that we see a character go from young to old. There's actually little evidence that all cartoon bears go from thin as cubs to fat as adults.
But other examples are Rusty from Little Bear. He's hefty, but he's muscular, not fat. Brother Bear isn't that kind of hyper-pear shape either - looking much more like a realistic bear. Baloo has more in common with the Country Bears than with other cartoon bears. Heck, even Yogi Bear, who arguably has the pear shape isn't this exaggerated.
Also, Kit may call Baloo 'poppa bear', it's clear in the show that they're not actually related, so the 'inherited physique' concept doesn't hold up here either.
But in truth, my biggest complaint with the reboot is that it's lazy. They took Baloo's body and slapped a comedic goofy face on it. It doesn't even look like Kit. He looks... Goofy. Even Baloo doesn't look like that. And the scale of the head doesn't match the body. It's too small and the neck looks wrong.
I have similar complaints with their new Don Karnage who at least is in the same ballpark as the original, but the new design elements make him look... simplified and badly drawn.

A quick edit to my above post. I found a site that shows something totally different, but it appears it will have the same crappy look an animation as the new DuckTales that I gave up on after the two pilot episodes: https://ideas.fandom.com/wiki/TaleSpin_(Reboot/Revival_TV_Series)
It used to be that fanfiction and art were considered jokes by serious fans of shows, but we seem to have reached an era where fan artists can make better stories and artwork than the original studios!

...Why, Disney? Why would you do this? I don't have as much a problem with him looking like Baloo as much as I do his utterly derped out and idiotic face! I agree, bears should have a more bulky frame, more bulky arms, and be... well, Bear like! Not Baloo with new colors! Kit would not let himself go like that! Not unless something seriously bad happened and destroyed his self esteem. (which could happen) Kit would want to ride his airfoil thingy regardless of his age!
Mmm, it's not that I have issues with the design itself, it just feels like a weird direction to have gone given what he looked like as a teen (I'm assuming he was a teen in the show given the kind of antics he got into - well, either that or Rebecca is one singularly terrible adult and parent... Baloo well, about what we'd expect. :) )
I don't really see the issue here. Just because he was a slim kid doesn't mean he'd stay slim as an adult; there are plenty of people who put on weight as adults. While his face looks goofy, that's just one image of him; it's not like he loves ok's like that all the time.
I get that, but Kit isn't related to Baloo and in the show, he's presented as having a specific body type that was abandoned rather out of hand to make him more like a character that isn't in the new show. Compare with Rebecca. She's an adult bear and is slim, so clearly slim bears exist in that world. If kit had been more 'bearish' as a teen, then being more 'Balooish' as an adult would make sense, but it seems arbitrary and to me, off putting. If they wanted a Baloo-like bear - they could have just had Baloo there. Or introduced a new character as a Baloo replacement. But Kit was never like Baloo in form or personality, so to me, it feels strange.
