The whole thing came around becuase at Y-gallery they told me that my Symbols were to accurate on the characters so I couldn't use them since they looked official
In other words... Totally got knocked down a peg for being too accurate...

But you have to figure... IDW/Hasboro/whoever owns the franchise... they encourage fanworks! You can go to IDW's forums and they have a whole section devoted to it XD
Highly doubt they would get upset over seeing the Autobot Symbol on an Autobot
Regular transformers artwork? As long as you say "Megatron is (C) Hasbro" or something, you're probably fine. But if you start posting pictures of autobots making out... well, Hasbro could decide that's brand-damaging. There are some subjects they'd overlook, some they wouldn't.

Mine seems really tame compared to company cannon.
Anyway, I didn't think Hasbro was known for that sort of enforcement (I don't think it is). Disney is notorious for it.

They got mad at me for drawing the Autobot symbol to accurately on a character... but they don't get mad at me drawing a character... I HAVE NO IDEA HOW THIS WORKS.

I have yet to approach them about potential work... call me weird but I am nervous about it. I have had so many artistic disappointments in the last 5 years that I am gun shy now XD

They knocked me specifically becuase the insignia on bee from the birds and the bee's picture was accurate
Despite the fact that I drew it and then vectored it for my own nefarious purposes :(
The way they were wording it they were JUST hedging on accusing me of tracing, it was weird

These 4 pages are great and really entertaining; the style is close to the show, which makes this even more interesting and mocking blows to how Y-gallery works most of the time, (for hey, they do work in odd ways with several subjects) are always entertaining.

It would explain why they seem to be so free in driving off some artists: If you're not making the kind of art they're looking for they don't care if you leave[1], only if any stink around it drives off artists who make content that they want. It would also explain the 'coincidence' of the easing of the content restrictions lining up with a fund-raising drive about a year ago.
[1] They might even prefer that you leave if you aren't making the art they want, unless your presence is bringing in people who will make that art.
