The final part of my story, be sure to see Parts One, Two, Three, Four and Five.
The dish itself still exists today, sadly no longer in use but still preserved for future generations.
It was moved in the 80βs to the nearby Tidbinbilla Deep Space Communication Complex, where it continued operating until the year 2000, part of a network relaying signals to and from satellites visiting Jupiter, Mars, Saturn, and the Voyager and Pioneer missions.
Itβs the first dish that greets you as you arrive, and while dwarfed by is larger brothers, whenever I visit I always take a moment to appreciate it, and the role it played in our history.
