Not sure if the hatching worked for the fire, but the rest of the image is pretty stunning.

Yeah, fire can be a pain to get right. I'd suggest that you look into using pointillism for fires. It might just work.

I had tried using pointillism on a rough sketch I did to try out different ways that I could do the fire, and I felt it didn't really have as nice of an effect as the hatching that I did end up using for it :/

This makes me want to go camping again very badly. When you play with crosshatching and shading like this it's just amazing. Please come back to this style from time to time! You are excellent at it!
