Canadair CL-415 Firebomber
This CL-415 came south from the Canadian Northwest Territories for EAA Oshkosh. I first saw this Canadian designed seaplane used for fire fighting last year at EAA. But she was parked. This time I got to see her actually flying and dropping a load of water. This aircraft is a common sight throughout Canada and much of Europe, used for fighting forest fires.
I also took this photo with my Nikon Camera and a 55MM lens instead of my 70-200MM lens. I just got back from hiking to see if I could get seriously up close photos of the XP-82 Twin Mustang, but security forbad anybody getting close or walk around the area to photograph the warbirds. But I was informed that the XP-82 was going to be airborne at 5:45 , it was 5PM at this point. I headed back (A good half mile) to where my chair was and managed to catch the Canadair dropping a load of water. I cursed myself for missing her flyby for photographers. but quickly hiked the 1.5 miles back to my car to fetch the 70-200mm lens and return just in time to catch the Twin Mustang taking off.
It was still cool seeing this seaplane doing her thing. I just wish I had the better lens on my camera. I swear I will have a 300mm lens for next years EAA.

Airport PA system "Will the over entitled owner of the Prius please move it off of the taxiway....." I knew a pilot who did that to the rude owner of a convertible parked partially blocking a runway. Pilots asked the guy to move vehicle, he told them to go F themselves. Guy I knew took off in a crop duster and well dusted the vehicle - full load of bug killer.
A very good image there. Hmmm do they make teleextenders for the current cameras? I used to use a 2x one with lenses for my old 35mm slr. Was easier to lug around than the 120mm to 300mm zoom lense - would keep the tele extender in my camera sling bag in its small case.

I remember seeing the Canadair in 1969 I think it was, at the Abbotsford International Airshow and thought it was very impressive. After they did their routine then came the Martin Mars air tankers from Kulshan Air Services and they parked an old truck in the drop zone I swear when the water hit that truck from the Mars that it bounced five feet in the air two very impressive aircraft.
The Canadair started Life as a water bomber, they were also designed to be utilitarian for hauling cargo and a limited number of passengers. No matter what they're an impressive bird regardless of what engines they put on them the ones I saw had Pratt Whitney radials on them, the radios just sounds so cool over a blow dryer

The Russians turned their jet-powered flying boat into a water carrier as well, originally it was a platoon carrier versus NATO.
this picture sort of proves that clouds are made of dust and water. the dropped water looks like the same as the background clouds. I can tell subtle shades in color.
