Polarstag's father, who was called Winterstag, was a stern and strict male once he got separated from his mate/Polar's mother Ice. The pair had been mates for over 5 years before their first and only litter was conceived.

This piece relates to when they got separated and Winterstag raised Polarstag alone. To his son, he was cold and indifferent, but Winterstag knew that they had to put feelings aside to survive in the harshness of his own birthland. The warm spring land that Polarstag was born to was erupted in flames of a fire that lasted for over two weeks. Winterstag searched, and searched for his mate and two other sons but nothing was left. No sign of life and Winterstag had to move on.

This caused a strain between father and son, and when Polarstag turned too his father perished not long after. Seemingly only surviving long enough until Polarstag could care for himself.
