This specie was created by another artist and given to me as a gift before they backstabbed me and some dear people to me.
This specie was introduced in the Royal Science series and are quite dangerous.
They do have the looks of a raptor and bat, but someone said their hands look a bit like the talons of an owl.
The society of Jaranyxes are built up in different tribes due to different ideals and adaptions.
It is not unusual for travellers to be caught by a female Jaranyx in heat because of them having a trait that can benefit the Jaranyxes, or a male Jaranyx that have been pushed aside during mating season or been exiled.
Hermaphrodites are very rare for Jaranyxes and are often kept in their own part of a village.
A male Jaranyx is usually around 7 ft to 7 ft 10 in tall, while a female Jaranyx is usually 8 ft to 9 ft tall.
If domesicated, a Jaranyx is a very loyal and protective creature and prone to often sleep in the same bed as its partner/owner, this also leaves them open for sexual activities outside of the heat cycle.
The sexual diversity between a female and a male is often spotted by the female having a big "crown" on her head and the male a smaller one.
Jaranyxes mating can take usually 15-30 minutes, but a Jaranyx mating with a prey usually wants it to last for 5-10 minutes, but there have been cases of certain preys (primarily equines, pachyderms, bovines, rhinos and gryphons) where mating have lasted up to 1-2 hours.
Do not let their fragile appearance fool you, a female Jaranyx can topple even the most stalwart opponent when in heat.
So approach them at your own caution.
Art by former friend.
