The YZN-27V Starlight was developed by the Noblesse Foundation's Innovate Division as an experiment in Psycolink technology, an improvement over the original Brainwave Link framework from the Inheritance Era. Where Silhouettes equipped with the Brainwave Link technology would only have access to enhanced input fidelity for the pilot, the improved Psycolink allows the user even better input fidelity as well as access to Psyco-bits, unmanned drones controlled by the pilot's brainwaves to assist in combat. However, in order to fully utilize the Psycolink, the pilot has to be deemed compatible with the machine. An incompatible pilot may not be able to use the Psycolink, or cause a feedback loop and disable the Silhouette in question.

Starlight can be equipped and made compatible with a wide variety of weapons thanks to the Universal Standard algorithm, which analyzes and adjusts the Starlight's weapons computer to accept the weapon in question. As standard, Starlight is equipped with either a Noblesse Foundation 'Neo Magnum' High-Powered Beam Rifle, which is directly connected to the Frame's PX-91 Thrones Particle Drive, or a Silhouette Gun that is chambered for 100 mm APFSDS rounds. Starlight also comes equipped with secondary weapons: a pair of backup 20mm API Vulcan cannons mounted at each wrist as well as a 'Defender' Shield-type Psyco-bit developed by the Noblesse Foundation.

The 'Defender' Psyco-bit was specially designed for the Starlight to act as a combat support bit as well as a regular shield when not in use. The 'Defender' is sophisticated, even for a Psyco-bit. Because of its dual purpose nature, it is the size of a regular Silhouette shield: larger than most Psyco-bits in use. It is equipped with a Thrones Barrier that dissipates beam weapons fire towards it, and can repel kinetic weapons for a short while before the 30cm thick plating fails.
