Lily was created to be my character Riley's girlfriend in a defunct sci-fi comic I was working on 2 or 3 years ago. Her name came from a song by The Who called "Pictures of Lily" hence the t-shirt!

Okay! Sounds good to me. They'd be close, I'd imagine. Penelope seems like she'd try to protect Lily since she's a bit more innocent and naive. Riley is probably the first guy she'd ever even let near Lily, but not without a firm warning! Y'know, the "Break her heart and I'll break your neck" thing.
