Suit 6? Yes, this is in fact the 6th itteration of her suit. The first was an all black catsuit that she had when I first created her. The 5th was the design from previous sketch dumps. Although I never drew a real pic with her wearing it, I still count it as one of them since it was fully designed and I had intended to use it.
But I digress. Here's the colour test for this version of her outfit. I quite like the balance of shades here, just wondering if I need to do some more with the saturation of the colours. Don't wanna make it too bright, of course.
Anyway, this is the proposed colour scheme. Opinions, comments, and critiques are all welcomed :)

Fo' sho' :)
As far as the fingers go, fingerless gloves were chosen for a couple of reasons. From a practical standpoint there's nothing to dull tactile response (try typing or fiddling with small objects while wearing gloves and you'll see what I mean). From a design point, well it just looked cool, haha!

That's a good point and I'd thought about it, but I figure it's possibly one of those things you make creative licence exceptions for. Believe me though, I've thought about that as well as how they stop fur and such from being traced. As it goes though, I think animal hair falls out without the root so can't easily be traced anyway... so I think I've just shot down my own point there. Hm.
I'm not sure finger prints would be an issue if your fingers are covered in fur....
Anyhow, I like the design overall, and I'll admit before I start picking things apart that I don't know this character, her history, or what she's actually planning to do with this suit so you may have to forgive me on a few points. That being said;
My first issue is with the neck of the outfit, and this is purely aesthetic, really. The rest of the body suit looks like a sturdy tight material, but the neck looks like loose cotton. If I start to look at the rest of the outfit as loose cotton I just can't see it. But really this is my own issue XD
Secondly, the placement of padding. As I said, I don't know what she'll be doing in this suit but I imagine it will be something rather active. That assumption made, what activity is it that will bang up her forearms and shins but not her knees or elbows? If you've ever been skateboarding, snowboarding, or anything where you might be tripping, falling, rolling, going quickly to the ground or anything of the sort, elbow and knee padding is definitely your first concern (Unless you wanted to wear a helmet, and then I guess it's your second) though I fully endorse wrist protection as well.
Lastly I suppose, the thigh belts. Frankly, why are they there? they aren't holding anything up or in. They have no pockets. They hold no pouches, holsters, guns. They have no D-rings to attach to... repelling equipment or anything else. Why does she have them? As I DO think you need something there to break up the flow of the suit a little, I'd give them some sort of recognizable purpose.
As ever when writing critiques I'll put in that this isn't meant to be offensive or condescending at all :S I really just want to help and hope I am. I do quite like the design. :)

Actually that's all very useful and valid :) No need to worry about causing offence - I'm not one to complain about geniune critique, particularly if I've asked for it.
Well I guess the first thing would be to explain what she does. Essentially she's a hired thief, though she steals data and items that can't be accessed external to their location. She's also hired for espionage and reconnaissance. She's well versed in the martial arts, which she sometimes needs to employ in order to escape from a location. As such, her style takes on a few parts of various ninja arts, just with a more modern application. The story she's from is set in the near future, so the technology is sufficiently more advanced.
Her suit is actually made up of a shirt and pants rather than being one whole body suit, if that helps ease matters. It's made from a stretchy but tight material for a snug fit to the body. The neck is loose due to it being long enough to pull up over her face. We'll have to excuse my inability to draw fabrics correctly for a moment here =p
The padding itself is derived from the ninja side of things. She needs to have maximum freedom of movement, but also deflect any strikes made at her. Since elbows and knees are hard point on the body they needn't be padded if she's to strike with them, though getting into a fight in the first place is far from ideal. Granted, they'd offer more protection, but in her case they may also restrict movement.
The arm/wrist bracers (as I've refered to them) also contain various thing she needs out in the field such as decrytion devices and a haptic surface display (surface that raises buttons and displays a menu).
As for the thigh belt, I actually neglected to draw some of the detail in there. This was the first sketch I did of this outfit before working out what everythnig was and it's purpose for being there. They actually have locking clips on them for extra pouches and other items to be attached. They probably aren't worn all the time honestly, so it'll probably be worth drawing something attached to them next time I put them there.
Just so you know, the 3 most recent sketch dumps were all about this design and me figuring out what does what and how it does it. Whether or not my scrawl is readable is another matter though XD
Anyway, thanks very much for the in-depth critique there. It's always great to get another opinion on these things and have them point out any potential flaws in logic and design :)

I certainly didn't mean to say that she shouldn't have the forearm and shin armour. More's the better, and hidden tech is a great reason for it. I just figured knee and elbow pads would be a higher priority. As a ninja thief looking to avoid fights she might be better off parkouring her way out of such situations, in which case it would be useful. And while you're right about elbows being a particularly hard part of the body that's good to strike with knees are most certainly not. The martial arts that use a lot of knee attacks mostly involve knee and shin guards. That's what they -don't- show you in Ong Bak ;P
Thanks for listening ;3

Whoops, uber late reply......
Ahem.
You're right about her being more likely to parkour her way out of a situation, that's by far the prefered option. Sometimes she's gotta fight though so the guards are there for that.
Anyway, no worries :) I'm always glad to get feedback on these things since it makes me question them and try to work out reasons or solutions for things being as they are.

with such emphasis on dark and stealth, the white fur showing would seem to be a problem?
there's stuff like facepaint, etc. which people sometimes use. i would imagine something similar
for furred folks, temporary hair dye, dunno.
anyway, the white bits just stand out as giveaways. especially the two big flashing ears, would seem to
make headshots likely, eep!

Very true indeed, but I guess that just plays into her codename of White Shadow somewhat. Doesn't stand up well to conceiling identity in the form of species/breed, or even the colour of the outfit, but I guess it's something I have to stick with, hehe.
I had run a night time shot test on this though, and it seems that the white doesn't stand out quite as much as would be thought. Obviously it's MUCH brighter than her outfit and surroundings, but not quite as stark as I thought it might be. True that she could use temporary dyes to hide herself better, but she'll just have to be sure not to step into any dimly lit areas or hide in line-or-sight to any guards that may be looking her way.
Basically, I'm trying to find workarounds to keep the themes (bad practice, I know, lo)

If you're keeping in the cool stuff because it's cool, I can understand that.
Just seems impractical, when it's so easy to rub charcoal on your fur or something.
But it's fiction! You can certainly pick and choose what matters and for what reasons :)
A lovely image, all the same. Thanks for sharing it
