From what I understand, she could be either because the word for crow and raven are the same in japanese. but that's just what I heard, I don't claim to be an expert on the subject.
And I wouldn't really say "poor Kraehe" becuase, in the end, she does get a happy ending. MUCH happier than Ducks if you ask me.
