After what Chris Stuckman said in his review and seeing the scene for myself in the theater, I really can't help but say "Can you feel the love in the afternoon" in regards to the remake's version of the song
The remake does make the song's title quite illogical. In the original scene, it's set late in the afternoon and during twilight. In the remake, it's set mid-day and by the time the song is over and we see the pair again, it's still quite sunny hehe

Pretty much this. The song's lyrics are speaking of it being twilight hour. "The peace the evening brings" and all that.
To have the song which is focused on dusk time be with the scene during the mid-day just makes it not match at all. The original set up the time to make the song and scene match (There are many that argue that the original is set during the day too but no, it's obviously sunset/twilight there, not MID-MORNING DAY like the remake. :P)
If they were gonna use a song for a romantic scene that has lyrics centered around it being sunset/evening, they could've at least had the scene set in the.. well... EVENING. Otherwise they could've at least adjusted the lyrics to be like "WILL you feel the love tonight" or "Are you ready to-" or something like that and that would be a little better.
"Can you feel the love in the afternoon" makes me laugh every time tbh.

Just a shameless, thoughtless (can't even sell plushes due to them not being stylized enough to stand out from the MANY other realistic lion plushes on the market) cashgrab due to being out of ideas. Didn't even try to retcon Zira and the other Scar supporters into the movie so they can explain their appearance in the sequel...and Disney will get desperate enough to make a sequel, trust me. The upcoming MCU lineup is looking like 5 years of crap.
I'd say go for it. I loved it, but I've never seen the old one. I watched it with a bunch of people who had all grown up with the old one though, it was their introduction into the fandom, and they said - and I quote - "this is the movie Disney would have made back then if they had been able to". It's not the same movie, of course. Better or worse or just different, that's up to your taste and is not for me or anyone else to say. Worst case scenario is you watched a movie you didn't like. Best case scenario, you now have two Lion King movies you love.
If you are a fan of the original, you may be disappointed at probability of 68%. Several new additions they made are welcome, but they rarely if ever captured what was so enjoyable about the original.
If you are new, go for it. It's good movie on its own and it has been a while since we last saw realistic talking animals movie.
Seriously, the only real gripe here is that Disney is making money out of remakes and is building its own empire.

SPECTACULAR pic LynxGirl! BEAUTIFULLY detailed, and it captures the emotion of the scene wonderfully! LOVE IT!!!!! :-D
Seeing the remake made me fall in love with "The Lion King" even more too! I absolutely LOVED the remake, and am so glad to hear that you did as well.
