Eh you still technically are by first hand ensuring no harm comes to it/them.
I mean isn't the first duty of all parents to protect their child from harm?
And even if not having a direct hand in raising them you'll still get to see far more and have greater impact on their lives. Even if it is through a looking glass.
Real parenting is relative. And it's not like they can takr the child EVERYWHERE they go. Some places kids can't be. So being the bodyguard is first priority sitter material.
And better than not having any contact at all in my eyes. Then again I might be going from Mrs. Doubtfire logic.
