Reminds me of Winsor McCay's A Pilgrim's Progress, wherein Mister Bunion is encumbered with a valise labeled Dull Care, of which he tries to relieve himself.

I couldn't help slipping in a nod to McKay when I decided to draw in a signpost. Not only Pilgrim's Progress but also the fact that dreams were the subject of two of his other strips.

One of my three favorite comic artists, the others being George Herriman and Walt Kelly. I think I've acquired all of McCay's Little Nemo and Herriman's Krazy Kat Sunday strips in book format before the prices went astronomical.
