Several species of birds like cranes, storks and herons, all similar in body design to this creature, are documented to have swallowed relatively huge snakes whole and alive that in some cases were heavier, and far longer than their devourer, so a noodly two foot dragon would probably present no challenge at all with this alien bird.
At first glance I had to wonder why what appeared to be a toothed, prehistoric bird would seem to have a human-made band on its leg, but after reading, I see it is a sapient alien creature, and the band is probably some high tech instrument. I have always wondered why birds lost their teeth when it seems they would still be very practical for some carnivorous species, especially fish eating ones. It will be interesting to see this creature in feeding mode, and how big it is in relation to a human. With your interest in 'avian' type predators, you might consider doing some realistic comics about the Giant Azarchid Pterosaurs that preyed on dinosaurs and in the area which is now Romania, appear to be the apex predators instead of theropod dinosaurs. Some of these were clearly large enough to swallow humans whole if they had been around then!
He is big enough to swallow a human, although it would be a very big meal for him, and would keep him satisfied for a while. He prefers to swallow prey whole, given that it is the fastest way to fill his belly, but will also chew and tear prey if it is too big to swallow. The band is a computer that gives him AI like abilities (highly advanced mathematical skills, superior memory, encyclopedic knowledge and the ability to download and learn information very quickly) through a neural interface with his brain. It is useful for communication and also has a tractor beam allowing him to move and manipulate small objects. Without the band his intelligence is similar to that of a human.
Is it merely a coincidence that he looks so much like a heron, or perhaps with his advanced alien technology was able to modify his own body to resemble a creature of this planet to avoid detection? As it is often hard to discern the size of a flying object from a distance, this would be a very good disguise, even if much larger than a real Heron should be! There are many sightings in our real world of supposedly 'giant' birds - though they receive far less attention than say, if the 'bird' look like an unworldly or mythical creature as it is assumed the observer just misjudged or exaggerated the creature's real size. Perhaps they are actually disguised aliens like this one! It will be interesting to see some comics with this guy!
