Two schoolgirls sharing their bento lunches during cherry blossom season.
The girl on the left is an arctic fox and the girl on the right is a type of mixed breed cat. This was inspired in part by yuri anime like Maria sama ga miteru, and Strawberry Panic - both of which I'm very fond of.
Done with micron pen and acrylic paints on 8"x10" illustration board.
For the FC art show.

Heh. Never read that, but it makes sense. I mean, in Gravitation, Seme/Senpai/CharacterIfound-more-interesting Eiri Yuki had smaller, more realistic eyes than Uke/Kohai/Pain-in-the-keister Shuichi Shindou. And in yuri, the senpai girl is a stand in for the man.
But this does raise one logical question. If the Class S friendship is a simulation of marriage; where one learns how to be a good little wife, then how does the senpai learn? Maybe some yuri fiction handles it by switching the roles occasionally (seems doubtful given how the whole senpai/kohai standard is one of Japans foundation blocks) but it seems such a relationship will leave the senpai out in the dust, even if she doesn't succumb to Dead Lesbian Syndrome as a convenient way for writers to push the kohai to a man.

I guess that makes sense.
Like I said, I know nothing about Yuri itself, since it's so hard to find any, and I kinda lack the inclination for a hard search since my angst aversion kicks in everytime I read that happy endings (the couple staying as a couple after working out their problems) in the genre are usually regarded with a "hahahaha... no." I keep reading that the writers employ deus ex machina to kill off (or otherwise eliminate) the senpai and push the kohai onto a guy we hardly ever get to know. Maybe yuri is different from what I read about it, but I would not really be able to figure that out given its rarity in my neck of the woods.

It's funny, after rearing Noriko's post about Strawberry Panic that was the first thing I thought of when I saw the thumbnail for this piece. (oh, and you two as well, for some reason.. don't ask me why, it just clicked my brain that way)
Miss you guys! We need to get together after FC is over and the dust is settled. We're thinking of having a sushi party at some point as well. :)

If I could make FC, this would definitely be on my list of pieces to get. I've seen so many commissions that are going to FC that I would bid on that it makes me very sad that I won't be able to attend. I do hope that it goes to a loving home, and that it goes for what it is worth. Keep up the great work Miss. ^_^
Oh gosh, I wish I could be at FC; I would love to buy this piece simply because of the wonderful feeling it puts out. I for one am also fond of Strawberry Panic, and hope to find a suitable dress to Cosplay Nagisa-chan while staying in Japan.
Hmm, maybe that'll be my next commission idea from you? :D

I only have one thing to say about this incredibly cute drawing....
"Kacey-san! Yuri te nani?" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TCNQi54l21M
Too bad someone already beat me to the "Sempai/kohai relationship" thing. On the other hand, could these two lovely girls from the same school as Kagome? XD Seriously, Kagome is the worst character ever voiced by the great Satsuki Yukino. I love her works as Chidori Kaname (from Full Metal Panic) and Kasukabe Saki (from Genshiken)

They are technically Age of Consent in Japan, probably older. (13 is Japan's Age of Consent). Thus, they are not technically underage. Their district may have raised it, and they are expected not to have sex so soon (well, also expect to do the sex thing with guys as well) but you won't have to go to Jail by Japanese standards.
Now I watched the first 4 of them. And I think it's very very cute and somehow so pure/innocent? Actually I do not like the norma M/F lovestories in mangas because they are often yerf clichee like. So far I like strawberry panic ^.^ And I yes it would be cool if you could recommend some of them to me.
Very nice. But what you don't know is that the octopus hotdog thingy she's about to eat will turn into a horrible tentacle monster that will devour them both as soon as she puts it in her mouth. That is until the kopai pulls out her magical katana out of hammerspace and slays the foul beast in true guro fashion. Sadly sempai doesn't have a very good chance of making it out of this one alive, much less with her sanity intact. Ah, sorry about that, but nice relaxing scenes like this tend to turn out ending rather badly. Go watch Ga-Rei Zero. It puts an interesting twist on the sempai-kopai relationship.
I've yet to watch those two series, but if the yuri anime I've watched is any indication, this scene is soon followed by a fight, which leads to one of three endings:
A) They break up for good soon. (Bad End)
B) They break up, but overcome their differences and reunite at the end of the series as the emotional high to end the series on. (Good End)
C) They struggle through their fight, but never part, instead becoming stronger in their relationship and in themselves for having overcome it. (Happy End)
... yeah, I play far too many shoujou-ai games.

Very cute ^^
I also really like the background, that looks like such a lovely park :)
Is that the correct way of holding chopsticks?
If so, then I've been holding them wrong all this time...yet I've had little trouble eating with them after some practice...though there's still things I have trouble with like really small pieces and rice.
