Definitively the Skeksis that has earn a deal of love for the upcoming series from the fans, mostly for its esthetic in designs.

This is by far the one I have the most fun working on of the three. A Brutal killer, skekMal was the wild Hunter of the Skeksis, who enjoy hunting, killing, and apparently, eating his prey. His robes were adorn with swords, knives and the bones of his past trophies, wearing a skull for a spirit mask, which hide the scars on his face. He was a very active Skeksis, fast and of great physical prowess and capable of using all 4 arms, and along with the Conqueror and Mariner, one of the few to be often out of the castle and wandering the outside world, searching his next Prey to hunt.

skekMal was first introduced on the J.M. Lee's Novel Shadows of the Dark Crystal, along with his counterpart urVa the Archer.

Spoiler on DC: Age of Resistance.

During the events of Age of Resistance, skekMal was hire by the Chamberlain to hunt after Rian in a desperate attempt to return back to the Emperor's side after been replace by skekVar as new Counsel, while mocking his motives, skekSil makes the Hunter realize that a Gelfling the confronts Skeksis and escapes with his life is no ordinary prey. In his hunt, he kills Captain Ordon various other Gelfling, and wounds the Heretic and the Wanderer, before been wounded by urVa with arrows. He returns to the Castle with Brea before falling half dead after too much blood loss, and the Skeksis make everything in their power to save his life, do to their believes Skeksis are immortal.

After the attempts to save him fail, Aughra comes in to exchange her powerful essence for the freedom of the Gelfling Prisoners. She also expresses skekMal been the more beautiful of the Skeksis, despite his smell of Death.

When skekMal returns to life, he runs to Stone in the Wood to finish Rian, but so reawakens the Archer: realizing how powerful his counterpart now was infuse with Aughra's essence, urVa chooses to end his own life by falling from the Circle of the Suns. Seeing his imminent end from the perspective urVa, skekMal dies of fear, breaking into dust, allowing Aughra to be reborn, with a new set of Robes that resembles those from the film era timeline.
