Shimakaze Lunar Academy Backstory
Shimakaze, though he prefers to be called Shima by his friends, is a first generation Pokémon in Lunaris – not the game generation, though that too – but meaning that he was transformed into a Pokémon, rather than his parents or grandparents.
That had come about thanks to a young boy called Collin in their town – a little place called Horizon, known for its technology developments and family mechanics, less so magical development, and what there was mostly related to these machines – turning out to have more power than anyone else there had expected – not anywhere near enough to make the cut for a place like the Lunar Academy, but enough to cause some problems.
After playing some of the games and sketching out his favourite Pokémon, a shiny Ninetails with some of his own additions to make it look 'cooler', Collin's brother, the pup that would soon be known as Shimakaze, stepped in and surprised him as he daydreamed about it, leading to a burst of uncontrolled magic that had taken the image from the young Collie pup's mind and set about turning the nearest available materials into something to match.
This sudden release was more than either pup's core was capable of sustaining though, especially at such a young age, and as Tyler, soon Shimakaze, writhed on the ground as his body was forcibly changed by the uncontrolled magic, his magical core was put under immense stress attempting to adjust to the influx of new magic and started drawing on all the new magic to shore itself up, putting Collin's core under even more strain until it broke, the remainder of his magical essence being absorbed and firming up the form of the now confused and distraught Tyler, who could only stand and watch in confusion and growing dread as his brother collapsed.
The death was seen as a horrible accident, the consequences of not teaching a kid about magic properly, but Tyler always felt his parents blamed him for it, and... So did he, after all he was the one that had taken the last of his brother's magic, even unintentionally.
So it was that after finding the sketches that Collin had made of his new character, Tyler both honoured the memory of his brother and escaped his own shame by renaming himself Shimakaze, the character he had been turned into, and ran away from his parents, eventually finding his way to the Lunar Academy after receiving an enrolment offer, his combined magic now more than enough to qualify.
Shimakaze is pretty obviously traumatized by this, which he copes with by basically treating everything as a joke/making light of things. Due to this he's pretty happy go lucky, except for when something reminds him of his prior life, whereupon he either gets very sad, or very angry, depending on the circumstances.
This can make him seem a bit out of place of course, being weirdly happy and obessed with pranks, but he is still a decent guy underneath and is quite aware of predators.
His collar contains a few small pockets, in one of which is the folded up character sheet he usually preferred to say he was created from, it was technically the truth after all and avoided talking about his role in his brother's death. He only shows it to friends, and you have to be on a whole other level above that before he'll tell you the truth. If anyone took it or did something to it he would not rest until he either got it back or punished the one responsible, not least because any edits made to it also affect him as it *is* him.
His primary magical aptitude is in two dimensional TF’s, turning furs into paintings, or drawings, or designs on clothes or anything else that would fit under that, including simply flattening them into a flat decal of themselves.
Once they are flattened he finds it pretty simple to make whatever changes he likes, and one of these is to add an air valve and reinflate them to three dimensions, but as a balloon or pooltoy.
Anything that involves being absorbed into something else like becoming a drawing on some paper he had to use his tails for, but he can flatten furs using his paws or simply jumping in or sitting on them too, being a very large Pokémon, this obviously not working so well on larger furs or those with magically enhanced durability.
