Yeah, oil burning steam locomotives are fascinating. My local rail museum has one of only two built around the same time Big Boy was, but it was originally designed as an oil burner, not converted over. They need about $55,000 to finish the restoration, but that's their entire annual revenue, so she sits.

I saw it when it was in Rawlins Wyoming, may 4th back in 2019. I did a research paper on the restoration of the Big Boy, or what the significance it played in society. I was able to get a copy signed by some of the people who restored the 4014, as well as giving them a copy of it.
