Parluvux Character Debut, Qantrips (Closed) Species Debut
It is believed that Qantrips were a Spirallace (Chaos-Magic) species, summoned from the NulHorizon (Spirallace energy dimension) by powerful casters to be powerful/trophy-familiars. However, the mana that the Qantrips required was too much for mages to satiate and thus they rebelled, slaughtering their masters with their natural Eldritch abilities. Free, the Qantrips sought to forage their own existence on Medius.
Commonly referred to as the Spiral Ones, or (High Familiars in magic circles), Qantrips live in various small tribes throughout Medius.
Culture wise, they are often believers in the Eld and follow the ways of The Hanged Man, the Wheel of Fortune, the High Priestess and the Magician with a primary emphasis on the Wheel of Fortune.
Qantrips come in both male and female format. The males have horns whereas the females have fins (and obvious gender-based anatomical differences). Eight Fingers, two Opposable thumbs, eight toes, two opposable thumbs; a prehensile tail and elf/bat-like ears. Qantrips have a heightened sense of Hearing and Smell but a reduced sense of sight. While not blind: Qantrips are born with Myopia (Nearsightedness) in comparison to common sight capability, like that in humans. Qantrips make up for their vision with the ability to see Mana, which can be found/derived from brain waves, most commonly found in creatures capable of Creative, Imaginative, and Meditative states. Qantrips can also see and sense raw mana, like that found within magically infused objects, beings and locations. Essentially: their Myopia does not hinder their perception in the least: with the exception of seeing far away structures/buildings/non-living objects or low-intelligence creatures.
Qantrips are dependent on Mana to live, similar to an insulin defficiency. If Recollite is the meditative quarts that Mediusians use to maintain healthy, composite minds; Mana is the energy that these healthy minds emanate. This is why Recollite is so essential when wielding Spirallace to maintain oneself and why Qantrips are drawn to powerful Spirallancers. Entering a covenant with the Qantrip, the caster agrees upon a flow of Mana to retain the loyalty bond. The magical contract is drawn and signed and with great scrutiny.
Like many other casters, Qantrips can acquire simple mana potions throughout Medius and use it as a source for their Mana dependency, needing to be injected directly into their bloodstream. However, this is a short-lived alleviation; usually only lasting for about 4-6 hours. Higher-Concentration Mana Potions as well as directly drawing Mana from a living magically endowed creatures via Qantrip’s Mana-Leech technique; can provide sustainability for up to as much as 24-48 hours.
