Now back to the main story of me and her.

Setting Things Up
The next item of business was to introduce Amethyst to some of the other members of Talon before preparing for her sister and mother to leave and head to Manuta. The family of three would spend the night here before the older females would be taken away. It was during these introductions that Amethyst stayed right by Nicholas’s side. Her mother Julie once again noticing there was something in both the young dragon’s eyes whenever they looked at the other or he talked about her daughter. It made Julie worry and for good reason if it was what she thought it was. The mother dragoness decided she would talk to both of them as she wouldn’t be at peace unless she did. Meanwhile Jasmine didn’t seem to notice anything at all. She was just happy that things were changing for herself and her family. Soon the introductions were finished and now it found the family split up. The older sibling was among some crates that would be going with her and her mother to Manuta. These were empty as things from that place were brought back to Talon to help them in their fight against the corruption of this city. All of this was something she still was getting over. So much so that Jasmine didn’t watch where she was going that the dragoness bumped into someone. Not hard but enough to jerk her out of her thoughts. “Oh! Sorry!” Julie exclaimed.
The being turned to face her showing it was another dragon carrying a crate himself. “Oh?” he asked to see the dragoness herself and then both stopped. Julie blinked once to make sure she was seeing things right. Because this male dragon looked so much like her dead ex. But looking closer showed the eye color was different and the snout wasn’t the same shape. But this new male looked exactly like him other than that. He in the meantime saw this purple scaled dragoness and felt his heart move in the way it does when someone became smitten. But this male was able to recover first. “I don’t think I’ve seen you before around here.”
Jasmine couldn’t help but blush but she smiled at this new dragon. “I am…” she whispered. “I was brought her by Nicholas…”
“That so? I heard about three new dragonesses coming here. And I was told to help two of them get to Manuta…” He then blushed as well but smiled with her.
“Then I will appreciate it…” Jasmine said.
“I’m Monique by the way…”
“Jasmine…” The two shook hands even if he had to shift his grip on the crate he was holding to do so. Monique then set it down next to the ones by her.
“I need to get something to eat,” the male said. “Would… you care to join me?” Jasmine just nodded and the two went to where it was being served. They were still smiling and began to open up.
Meanwhile Amethyst herself was settling into the place she and her family would be spending the night by looking around the room. A knock made the young dragoness look up to see her mother standing in the doorway. “Mom,” her daughter said.
“Hey…” the older dragoness replied. “Listen… there’s something we need to talk about that’s not related to your choice.” Amethyst waited. The mother dragon let out a sigh. “It’s more dealing with Nicholas…”
The younger female blushed hard and held up her hands. “W-what?!” the daughter commented. “Mom! He and I are just friends at most!”
“Are you?” Julie stated and looked to Amethyst with worry. “Honey, I’ve been around longer than you and I see more things than you know.”
“Mom, I swear all he’s done is helped me out and showing me this place! Nothing more than that!”
The two were then silent and then Julie spoke. “I see… I’ll leave it for now.” She got a concerned look. “All the same, be careful. And not just with fighting against the rulers of this city.” The older dragoness left her daughter with that.
“What was that about?” Amethyst whispered. Her thoughts then turned back to Nicholas. Sure, he had helped her out with those guards like a knight in shining armor, how he told her things that were different than what was expected, how the male didn’t care of finding her at Lofter’s Gaze working, and showing her this new life. Amethyst then began to think about in the little time she had known the male dragon and how kind and gentle he was in his words, how there was a hidden strength to him, as well as being good looking. That last thought made Amethyst go red and have her shake her head. The dragoness knew what stood in the way and thought anything beyond being friends was impossible. Even if Nicholas had said those words, the wingless dragon knew where he and her stood in this society.
“I can’t be more than that with him…” she said softly. It was easy to say that as Amethyst hadn’t thought of Nicholas that way despite what he had done for her. But that was the thing about feelings and love. They developed without someone realizing it. Sometimes even denying it. For now though, this was where the female stood. But the same couldn’t be said about Nicholas.
Julie found him in a different room. He looked up when she entered. “Hey there,” he said kindly. “Doing okay?”
The mother dragoness looked at him with a look only a mother could. “It’s about my youngest daughter,” she said. “Not with her choice of joining Talon. It’s more personal.”
“Oh? Why are you telling me this?”
“Because I fear of what may happen to her. All due to the rules of this society of who she can be with. I thought I saw something in her eyes when she looked at you. Ansd I saw it with you to.”
The winged dragon straightened up and crossed his arms. “And this is a problem because…?” he replied.
“Nicholas, you know what it says about winged and wingless ones falling in love with the other!”
“And I’m aware of that,” he growled slightly, frowning. “Julie, before I met Amethyst, I was fighting to help others. Now I have another reason to do so. It’s for Amethyst. I’m fighting for a better future for her and for us to be together… because I love her; already.” Julie saw the truth in his eyes and took a step back. She realized there was now little she could do about this situation. “I know the risks but for her I would die for her. And why I swear I will keep her safe. No matter what.”
“I see…” the dragoness said. She closed her eyes and then looked at the young male. “Then there’s nothing I can say or do. Just please… take care of Amethyst.” The female then left Nicholas.
Nothing more was said on that and the family of three slept well. Nicholas and Amethyst watch them ride off with Monique and a wave goodbye during the early hours of the morning with the sun coming up. They were standing right in front of a secret entrance that led to another tunnel that went to Talon’s hideout. The dragoness had managed to say her goodbyes to her mother and sister before this. “I hope they’ll be fine,” she whispered.
“They will,” the male dragon with her said. “Just like nobody outside of Talon knows about this entrance, they don’t know where Manuta is.”
“Have you been there?”
“A few times. But my home will always be here where I fight despite where dragons in society stand.” She nodded. And now the work for the dragoness was about to begin.
