Well hello there. If you follow me on Twitter you've probably seen my 25+ tweets comprising my thoughts on seasons 5-9 of MLP:FIM. Yes, I finally caught up after putting it off for years! And one of the things I noted was that "Smolder is a cutie." Yes, it was kind of inevitable that I'd draw her, so here she is. I wanted to do something a bit simpler that just focused on the nice colours and cute scalie girl, so the background isn't anything fancy. And I almost did some backlighting, but I honestly just really like it as it is. Oh, and I used yet another new shading technique for this, which contributed to the nice aesthetic. I almost finished it last night after 2 days of work, but there were a couple of little tweaks I did today.

I was specifically inspired to draw this pic of Smolder by these two screenshots: (link) (link) I loosely combined the two poses.

Smolder has a pretty good design for my taste, but she can look a little weird in the MLP:FIM artstyle, much like Ember before her. They both come out very nicely in fanart, similar to some Pokemon. Speaking of Ember, I was surprised how indifferent I was towards her after I got to the episodes featuring her, given how much everyone else loved her. I guess most people like the "tsundere" type more than I do. I like Smolder more, but my favourite new character is Silverstream. She's the biggest cutie of them all, so I guess you can expect a drawing from me.
