When I was drawing every day, all day, I got good pretty quickly. At what I was doing, of course... but it still made me a kick-ass sketch and technical illustrator. Since relying on the computer, those skills have become atrophy and others have taken their place.
Bottom line is, you just have to keep at it. Keep learning. Keep improving. Let it happen organically and be patient through the process.
