My presentation took on a furry focus, so I decided to post it up here. (This was a rough draft I improvised the presentation from . . . )
I gave everyone in my class an excerpt package to read beforehand, and mention them in the presentation. Everything is worth reading:
- Chapter 1, The Picture of Dorian Gray, Oscar Wilde
http://emotionalliteracyeducation.c.....ne/dgray10.htm
- Giant Pacific Octopus, Edward Field
http://www.ralphmag.org/EU/edw-fiel.....cat-woman.html
- selected panels from 'Closet Coon'
http://raccoony.com/strips.htm
I'm also passing around a stack of I.S.O. comics and the 'When Wally met Mikey' story arc from 'The Suburban Jungle'

This reminded me of a slide show style presentation. I'm sure it was good, and would have flown better had I been there to actually experience the presentation. The main thing that threw me off balance though is where you mentioned gay comics in the last paragraph and posed the question of "Are FP and CC the only good ones?". It just seemed like there was a point there but never attained it. Although I did like that you pointed out the progression of the genera and didn't try to make it seem only good. You kept it based in reality and showed that there was bad writings as well as good. I also like how you pointed out that it wasn't all there was but only a glimpse of the possible future.
I hope your class enjoyed the presentation and thanks for sharing :D
My presentations are generally worse than this one. For some reason I decided to write this one down ad lib as if I was presenting the night before, and so the presentation itself was like reading a second draft off the sheet. Anyways, that and a few other things ended up getting filtered out.
There's a stack of I.S.O. comics floating around the school. I was going to collect them, but thought better of it.
I just fixed the links, so if any didn't work they should now.
Closet Coon is a good webcomic.
I.S.O., The End of Things, and Fur-Piled are also very good. Those four are my favourites.
My favorites are numerous but do include Closet Coon. My favorite LGBT-related furry webcomic overall is Concession.
I have google reader going, and all the comic updates come there. Once every so often I check that, which is like checking email.
My other major favorite webcomics are Better Days and its sequel Original Life, The Whiteboard, Jack and Twokinds. I tried I.S.O. but couldn't really get into it much.
I also like Vinci & Arty.
So what other LGBT writings do you like?
How far did you get into I.S.O.? That comic gets very good. Also, goatguy in that comic is pretty cool.
I read a collection of short stories by David Leavitt, who wrote the first gay short story to get published in the New Yorker, and that was pretty good. Furry comics are better though.
I have quite a few favorite writers myself including some LGBT. There's this one gay novel I've been wanting to read called Grief.
The link above gets you to chapter eight or something, I'm not sure which. Have you read Circles?
Nah, I'm not big on Circles.
