The Hunter's Guild has formally documented and acknowledged a recent threat to mankind's well-being--details for this monster are found below. Hunters are advised to exercise extreme caution when engaging this beast, however capture is preferable to further advance Guild research.
"Wapjaws"--so named for their curious ability--are a recent problem that have cropped up in the surrounding areas. So far only one individual has been documented, but the guild has reason to suspect that multiple monsters of the same species are roaming unchecked. Boasting a wide range of color, the Warpjaw's most striking features are its bizarre combination of fur and scales--demarcated on the fore half--along with twin sets of ears and prominent serpentine features on the face. These beasts can essentially create a portal in their mouths, allowing them to augment their attacks or divert those against them.
Confirmed to be offworld visitors, Warpjaws are an incredibly destructive invasive species--their unnatural presence has displaced and even destroyed native flora and fauna in multitude, and has otherwise upset the natural balance of their surrounding environments. Worse still, they seem to occupy no ecological niche, slipping between apex predator and passive observer at whim.
Warpjaws are relatively small--reaching only 180cm at shoulder--but their compact frame hides an immense destructive potential! Using their oral ability, these beasts can call forth almost any element of their choosing! For example; laying waste to hunters with a scathing cone of fire one second then summoning a swathe of frigid ice the next. Their easy access to the elements allows them to dispense with ailments quite freely, making them unrivaled masters of 'blight' debuffs. The Guild advises element-neutral armor and weapons against this particular beast. It's also worth noting that Warpjaws are dangerous at all distances--their portal ability allows any distant targets to ostensibly be within their reach, making them capable fighters at all ranges. This ability is also quite adept at re-directing projectiles. Gunners should be exceedingly careful when engaging this monster!

This monster-fied Bruve was drawn by none other than
rollwulf as part of their "monhun challenge" last year. I've actually been sitting on this one for a while and kinda forgot about it, but with Iceborne just around the corner I figured it was about time I uploaded these! I'm still head over heels with this one tbh--so many lovely details :3
