Theoretically, for every world there's a chain of events that lead to it. Every ending has to have a beginning after all, a tale to be told. Looking around what was left of this one, Lars had to wonder just what could have happened to reach here. This....apocalypse of fire and blood, of nothing but circling, ravenous winged creatures and meagre pockets of resistance quivering in the dark, the smell of sulphur heavy and acrid in the air.

Not that he had anything to worry about - the staff should have kept him hidden from any unwanted attention. That being said it was impossible not to feel nervous with so many hungry predators circling around, some within striking rage. It was a deep-seated fear, the kind you couldn't erase no matter how many terrors you faced. It was nothing he hadn't faced before, but he couldn't keep that terror from accelerating his pulse, quickening his breath. He clutched his staff tighter and hurried towards the devastated city.
