It's hard to believe such a sweet, loving and BEAUTIFUL rat sat on the adoption table at Petco for so long as his brothers and sisters one by one were adopted before he was the only one left and I caved. Lot's of people commented on how adorable he was, and I had hoped someone would take him, but they never did. I didn't even want a rat at that time. It sounds corny, but it's almost like it was fate. I don't understand what's gotten into Sobolan lately, but since Skipper's death he's be very affectionate, a lot more then usual and just wants to sit with me and hang out as opposed to doing his other ratty things. I love my little fatty <3
(Quick note, because people are very stupid and I KNOW someone's gonna say it: he's resting his head on my hand by choice, I'm not choking him or grasping him in any way that's hurting him.)

I know this may sound weird, but this is somewhat similar to what I've told my flatmate.
Rats tend to pick up on our emotions just like cats and dogs. When we're upset about something, they will know, and they will want to do anything to be with their owner. This has happened on many occasion here where we've lost a rat. Sadly we lost one just yesterday which.. I'm not sure what to think because we've lost so many rats in the past few years. All I can say is she's sleeping, and that she was a very old rat who always had her fair share of problems when it came to respiratory issues. Even though I've kept from crying, the other rats are taking notice of this to well and have picked up off my vibes.

i used to have a rat that was my little buddy. miles was my little tough sponge. lived to be almost 7 years old. when he was 4 i almost lost him because we didn't have the money to take him to the emergency vet when he got in a fight with a very agressive young male and had a large hole torn in his belly.. i mean you could see his intestine. so after an hour of trying to figure out something i tearfuly put him in a box and put him in the freezer and went to bed. now before any one flames me, slept for almost 20 hours when my dad knocked on my door and said something is making noise in the freezer. 20 hours in a new kennmore freezer set to its coldest settings and i was like not funny asshole. so i go open the freezer and move the frozen veggies out of the way and take the ice packs off the box and miles pokes hims little blonde ratty head up like nothing happend!!! i fraked out and stumbled back, when i calmed down i picked him up and the hole in his belly was smaller!! so for the next few days i packed tripple antibiotic in the opening and it closed up. not bad for a rat that lived on dry cat food, chunks of my hamburgers and a table spoon of guinness extra stout a week :) i miss my little buddy :(
B'AWWW that happy ratty face!
I believe in fate when it comes to pets! Sometimes the planets just align themselves perfectly and you have the best friend you could ask for! My rat Mochi is that way for me. I bought him because when I put my hand in the "snake food" rat bin at my local pet store, he nibbled my ring and seemed very interested in me. The other rats were afraid of me or ignored me. I wasn't even out looking for a pet that day, but I bought him right then. :3 And now...my baby Klaus rat has passed, and I thought no other rat would ever be as sweet and loving as him, but Mochi has stepped up to become that for me again. :3
And to think...he'd have been snake chow if I didn't happen to meet him!
