Interspecies Relationship Support Network Youth Volunteers
In the city of Zootopia anyone can be anything. And anyone can fall in love with anyone else. Used to be it was a hard thing to deal with, which made those who dealt with it band together for support and solidarity. Thus was born the city-spanning Interspecies Relationship Support Network, now with a very vibrantly active Chapter in The Tri-Burrows, centered in the town of Bunnyburrow (Chapter co-leaders Travis Dreyson and Gideon Ovine.) It's generally accepted that being in any sort of interspecies relationship is required to be a part, but really any allies and accepting persons are welcome. Dues are paid monthly (first visit's free, but don't try stealing the free food with lined pockets, they check for that after Slick Nick Wilde-Hopps thought he could cart away an excessive amount of grilled shrimp) and all the services are open. Meeting spaces, networking, counseling referrals, discounts from members on certain services. But, one small catch. You need to be 18 and over to join. It's a support group, after all, and a charitable institution with dues and all that. Adults only, for the boring reasons. But kids fall in love outside their taxonomic square too. they can't join and get full services, but they still deserve a little help.
No full joining, but the youngsters can absolutely volunteer in many capacities. Donation collection, flyer distribution, survey taking or petition canvassing, political suggestion (as non-members, they can promote the heck out of policies and politicians that would be good for interspecies harmony; they say Cecil Seedsworth posts up big numbers because volunteer street teams post up his political ads very effectively, and that Tiziri Fanak can have every souq in Sahara Square papered with her picture before an opponent can think about how to confront her.) They can sit in on meetings without eating anything and meet folks that can help them with issues like bullying and discrimination. There are important mammals in the network. And of course, folks can volunteer to be on the flyers being posted up. A quick photo session, some work with a program, and it gets copied off to grace the walls and telephone poles of all the Districts of Zootopia.
Being not-a-district (rather, a region), Canyonlands isn't very much thought of, but being the home of Hyenahurst, the high-value little wadiside area holding such notable luminaries as Muffin Lanige and her ever-boggling hob Duke Weaselton, it has its share of notoriety. As is proper for a place that's small but rich, they have a chapter that is, naturally, small but rich. They appeal to the prep crowd, the high society scions and grand folks. Even so, they're not above a little oomph when it comes to stating a message that some kids in love want to get across. Thus this little number, promoting the love between some lions and hyenas that makes the whole city sit up and take notice.
Five prep school cubs and one privately tutored lass. From left to right, Chungu Kupendeka, the best lock on the Hyenahurst Academy rugby team. A huge hunk of a sweetheart. He's not quite... sharp. But he's a very culturally connected hyena. He's the type to happily be a househusband, but his huge figure turns off most hyena women. Thankfully, there are other ladies out there. Which comes to Tiifu Tamu. An improbable cheerleader for Savannah Preparatory Academy, she hardly looks the part. Glasses, braces, a major nerd. But she's friends with other popular kids. She plans to go into something professional, like corporate finance. She'll be a big shot, make tons of money, bring home the salmon. That sort of thing appeals to a tradition-minded hyena. For her part, she is absolutely in love with his sweet nature, his huge muscles and his deep black mane. He hits all the boxes for the fantasy she never thought she could have.
Kion Pride, second child of Simba Pride, of Pride Heavy Manufacturing. He's a lesser heir but not anything to sneeze at. Bold, daring, adventurous, he wandered into "enemy territory", a Savannah Prep cub deep in Hyenahurst. He met the rugby team, but didn't back down from the intimidation. But, he didn't personally back them down. The flame-maned gymnast got a bit of help. If there's one thing hyena boys are quick to run away from, it's a hyena girl. Miss Jasiri Fisi, visiting her auntie Shenzi happened to see the encounter in the wadi from her aunt's patio. And down she went to scare off the posturing boys and invite Kion in for snacks. She pretty well told him they were a couple, or rather, got him to admit he had no objections to the matter. Another second child, the younger daughter of Tender Faraja Fisi, the head tender of the largest Peaceground Sanctuary in the city. He gets a stipend from the church association, plus a portion of donations, and has his own home through the church. he has enough to afford private tutors, leaving Jasiri cut off from school politics.
Next along, Janja Nguvu, captain of the Hyenahurst Academy rugby team and fly-half. He's not a bad guy, but he's clever, and maybe a little angry. He didn't ask to be born with solid muscles and rugged good looks as opposed to lithe, long limbs and a pretty face. His teen rebellion is to be good at his powerful position, to be a little pushy. Much like teammate Chungu, he got those ear notches to play up an impression of intimidating force. Like piercings but more significant. He can be loud, he can be pushy, he can be a real sweetheart when he puts his mind to it. He cares about his team, he cares about his friends, he cares very, very much about the lioness that pushed back as hard as he pushed. Zuri Kiburi, another Savannah Prep cheerleader. The alpha female of the trio of herself, Tiifu and Kiara, despite Kiara being richer. She's got a big personality, she likes what she likes, she will not be talked down to. For a while she thought she was going to date Kion. Then she ran into Janja, blaming him for a ruined evening, as his bringing around Chungu got her friend to go absolutely ga-ga. They got loud, they got heated, he asked if he could buy her flowers and she told him exactly what kind while taking his arm. They're that couple who will likely have a seventieth wedding anniversary, try to dance like they used to, and have to have their ten kids haul them back home.
They also volunteer at the Savannah Central chapter (where Kion, Jasiri, Tiifu and Zuri live) but do a lot in Hyenahurst because it's smaller and deserves more love. This posted is for the Inter Pride campaign. Outsider Pride is well represented, relationships between predators and prey, but within the same diet but vastly different in form is another matter. Those are Inters, and some of those relationships are still considered taboo by the backwards. Hyenas and lions are a big no-no as far as some mammals are concerned (like Simba Pride, say) but these kids know better. They won't take any scat from anyone. And the most willful, of course, have a few Pain Trains to remind the less thoughtful population that breaking them up can be attempted, but it won't be easy.

It's a major theme in the overarching narrative of my Zootopia works. Culture is far from homogeneous and has very many variants depending on species, district and religion. It makes interactions more or less easy, especially if you don't know beforehand, and colors all interactions. It also informs some "truisms." Like hyena men will be weak and submissive, or lion men posturing and vain, bordering on the vapid. Foxes will be some version of sly, but that differs by species. Reds will be seen as criminally cunning and out to take someone for a ride (a la Aesop); Arctic males the kind of "hello, yes, my friend, how are you?" Social type, with vixens heavily and very unfairly stereotyped as overly-sensual sexpots who are always trying to be seductive; fennecs are cunning and sly, also in that "welcome my friend" way but with a wink and a nod, as in everyone knows that the tod in gold chains and open shirt or the vixen in a headscarf and dress is out to sell you slightly marked up stuff at the souq but they're just so charming it's nice being sold to.
And if you make them, please, please tell me.
Also, just to round it all out, in the story they come from and the one I'm literally writing at this moment, there's also Kiara x Vitani, Madoa x Cheezi, and some implied (at present one-sided) Bunga x Dhahabu (who's a teenage pop starlet in this incarnation.)

Things are both the same and different in this case because the power dynamics are shifted without a monarchy and without a hard-line religion or intentionally misrepresented hyenas.
Kiara's a happy bi girl that happily embraced the tough-talking goth that she met by chance. Vitani is just a girl from the wrong side of town dating a cheerleader. Her half-brothers don't care. They have dark manes and Kovu is kind of a prettyboy in a way that works for lions. Both will do great with dating, and having Kiara in or near the family means they can try charming a better class of ladies. Zira is quite happy about the whole thing. Kiara doesn't take after her father and that's good enough for her.

Makes sense, and have to say its a interesting paring. Personally not my cup of tea, but you made it work, though who will Kovu be with now.
I personally ship Vitani with Kopa, who in my Zootopia HC incarnation, is the bastard child of Simba and another lioness he had an affair with. (He's very ashamed of it.)
This is off topic a bit, but I get the feeling that Zuri is the kind of girl that invites her boyfriend in for premarital sex whenever her parents aren't home, since Janja, to me, seems like a wannabe bad boy type. A guy that an upper middle class family wouldn't approve of. On the subject of ideas, I thought of a potential short fanfic, mabye just a fluff-fic, that invloves Janja getting Zuri pregnant even though they're still in high school.

I have read some of it. I have a lot on my plate. But you're right. Private/prep schools tend to overlap due to uniform standards.
Who will Kovu date? Basically anyone he wants. Or rather, any lioness he wants. He's mostly charming, mostly handsome, and mostly a momma's boy. He's a top pick for a lioness. His family are all zeros (in the internal social classification, there's an orientation scale of hetero/homo/bisexuality, and a scale for how far you stray from your species. Zero on that scale is your own species and nothing else.)
As written, yes. Zuri is crazy for Janja, and he is a wannabe bad boy. He's actually kind of sad and angry all the time because he's not small, weak and pretty. Zuri's incredibly forward nature means he feels like he has the kind of woman he wants, who normally only could come of him being pretty and weak, and her physical desire for him means his body isn't something to be ashamed of. But they're both smart and wrap it up. Zuri's also on the pill. And they're not upper middle class. They're lower upper, medium-old money, likely part of a well-off clique of families. As it is, neither Zuri nor Tiifu have had problems with family. Janja may be forward but his posture and interaction means he's sincere and caring. Chungu is a big softie, emphasis on both. Soft and loving, which the parents like, but big and imposing, also enjoyed when their daughter is smaller. And if Janja got her pregnant, he would instantly flip to househusband mode and brag on social media all the time. He doesn't need to say that he's a hyena to the core, but it's extra cred to his name. His parents would homeschool him to graduation and dote on the new cub.
In my stories I have written quite extensively on religion, even named the three primary faiths. In somewhere like The Burrows, the big faith is the Solaterra church, a rabbit-majority agricultural/solar church that's like pagan polytheist Catholicism. Fifs (priests) of both genders perform service, and lead rituals. The Holy Selenic Convocation is mostly predators and anyone else that wants in. It's a lunar faith that emphasizes living stock like fish and bugs as their kind of agriculture. It's sort of a Pentecostal voodoo, with different levels of spiritual depth. Worshippers choose if they just go for moral and social lessons and fake it with the moon tongue, or if they go all in. In the city both of those are seen as quaint. Only Meadowlands has a lot of Solaterrans and the Nocturnal district has a lot of Selenics. Most everyone else is part of The Peaceground Unitary Church Association. Basically Unitarian Universalism with a Presbyterian structure. They emphasize peace and plenty, using allusions to the great watering hole at which all would meet and drink in peace.
Who is what is usually straightforward with a few surprises. Gideon is Solaterran because a lay-doe therapist helped turn him into the fox he is. Judy and Nick are Peaceground, though raised Solaterran and Selenic. Interfaith marriages are not even an issue.

It would lead to an investigation of the contraceptive if she was regular about taking it, and the condom quality control records, at most. Zuri could do school from home, and Janja would become an insufferable braggart talking about how househusbandy he's going to be. Marriage would be at 16 in accordance with the law, Zuri would do modified civil service at 18, having a child under 10, and that's about it.
Nice. The Solaterran religion actully sounds similar to the religion I made for zootopia. I didn't think of a name for it yet, but it similar to the one you made so I know it might sound like I copy from your idea. But I was inspired by the religion of the 9 divines from the elder scrolls. Its a polytheistic religion with a exact Catholic imagery. Its a religion that is open to both prey and predator mammals. There are 8 deities in total:
Maria(Rabbit): Patron Goddess of love, fertility, motherhood, compassion and guardian of children
Chirin(Lamb): Patron Goddess of luck, charity, fairness, mercy, innocence and childhood
Aslan(Lion): Patron God of Might, loyalty, dignity, might, honor, competition, victory, battle and heroism.
Pontus(Stag): Patron God of the sun, light, dawn, knowledge, wisdom, intelligence, justice, law and protector of the forests and guardian of feral animals.
Baine(Bull): Patron God of strength, work, labor, agriculture, architecture, smith-work building, business and industry
Gilneas(Wolf): Patron God of the moon, night, dusk, shadow, resilience, perseverance, survival instinct, and lord of the hunt.
Statera(Orangutans): Patron God of life and death, growth and decay, fairness, guardian of the dead, and the balance of nature.
Vrijeme(Bat) Patron Goddess of nature, the elements(earth, water, fire, wind), weather, flight and guardian of avains.
Its was the best that I could come up with. Its really fleshed out as much, ll and thought through. But I wanted to make a Catholic like religion that wasn't exactly Catholic in philosophy terms but was Catholic in imagry for a AU story I plan on writing where Nick is a priest and Judy is a nun running an orphanage.
How did you handle the situation of geo-politcs(nations etc) and are there others animals, and what I mean are reptiles, aquatic aninals and avains sentient and anthropomorphic?

I see, I see. I used Catholicism as a base because I grew up Catholic and I'm very familiar with the tropes and how things are done to make it impressive. The Solaterrans (and all the others actually) don't have... gods in the sense that you've laid out here. Conceptions of things tend to be more cosmic or pragmatic. They literally honor the Sun and Earth, as Sol Invictus and Sancta Terra, with the stars as their children, vast in number because they're like rabbits. Imagery is less about hard anthropomorphized concepts but more about interaction such as warm sun shining on one's face or the earth cradling one's steps. There are negative aspects to be avoided like a harsh glare and infertile ground, plus other traditions like souls going to a place called Summerland after death, or a nebulous negative concept called Desolation that's an abstract place, an idea and sometimes a thing, often used as a general curse word like "Desolation take you" or "Desolation spawn" to describe someone you hate.
The Selenic Convocation has more of a tradition of, again, not gods per se but much like Voodoo or Buddhism or Shinto, something lesser. Like Solaterrans they focus on the moon, talkins about the Silver Glow, the Gentle Silver like in the scales of leaping fish, and also the Holy Dark, the quiet dark in which the bugs that feed them dwell and grow. Because they place so much stock in ideas about personal spiritualism and the movement of spirits through religious ecstasy and speaking in tongues, they have a vast sweep of sub-godly entities, like the Lwa, Bodhisattva or Kami. They have various representational roles and might be encouraged to act as intercessors in natural events, though mostly it's traditional and particular ones are invoked for traditional reasons. Baron and Maman are considered the greatest couple that ever was, so a couple can asked to be married in attire that resembles their depictions, but only if the officiant can see they deserve it. It's a mark of prestige and says to the community that you're a shining example of love.
I sort of go light on GEO-politics, I have enough of a headache managing the politics I made up, which includes the actions, powers and interactions of the city council, the districts themselves acting as political entities, the unincorporated or loosely defined areas, and so on. It's established that Zootopia is a megalopolis, a super-city and is implied to be one of the last remaining things that could be considered a city-state. The Tri-Burrows plus Deerbrooke and a woodland settlement is organized by its own council sort of like a giant county. they have a sheriff for law enforcement rather than individual town police, and have their own power to do official things like issue marriage licenses. But, a much later story will show they don't have their own bar and the new Justice of the Peace will have to pass the Zootopian Bar. There are other nations, I show off immigrants from there, or mention things. They tend to be named roughly what they are on earth just more often than not with the local name. The Sheriff of the Tri-Burrows is a reindeer whose family came from Suomi (Finland), her deputy is dating a woman whose family moved to Zootopia from Burma. In the story "Let it go, it's Happytown" the two co-leads are from Nepal and France (It's not said, but one speaks French a lot and the other has the Nepalese flag motifs on his business sign, used to be a monk in training and still meditates regularly.) I actually imply there's a lot of world out there, typically collectively called "The Old Country", a term used to describe equivalents of Italy, Germany, Russia and other such places. I'm toying with the old fan theory that Zootopia is located somewhere in an equivalent of Africa though I don't lean on it too hard because of the nostalgic Americana of small-town midwestern/Southern Tri-Burrows.
Avians are decidedly not sentient. It's not mentioned a lot but mammals do eat avian eggs and their flesh. It's way, way less common than fish or bugs but they do. Birds are actually a popular kind of pet. They have house chickens as a baseline, then there are more exotic things like in the story I'm writing, Beshte has a pet egret. It's strongly implied to be his comfort animal. Lizards too, are even less often eaten but they exist. Leather is made from their skin but mostly they're also pets. Fish are pets, naturally, and a hugely common food source. Some aquatic animals are also sapient if you mean like, pinnipeds and cetaceans. They just can't get that far inland without a complicated system of tubes. They can exist out of water but pinnipeds usually need to rig up a system to balance as their heavy modification makes movement awkward. Cetaceans are a non-starter given their legs don't actually exist anymore. They're out there but you'd only likely see pinnipeds doing aquatic work in the harbor areas of Zootopia.

City councilmammal for Sahara Square. A fennec married to a painted hound. She's scrappy but shrewd, and recognizes her district is at least partly parasitical. With major industries being gambling, alcohol retail, and very, very circuitous prostitution she practically makes atonement and reinvestment a way of life. Taxes are high but they fund drug rehab programs, addiction interdiction and recovery programs (including gambling addiction). Her district has glamour and a high standard of living.
