Why loop it though? No one (or almost no one) is short enough that it would hit the ground otherwise.

Oh yeaah im short enough x3 I dont use platic bags, but fabric ones and most of times they are way too long, hence the looping, or knotting ect to get em shorter x3

Well sorry to both of you then, I guess that's just my ignorance then. Carrying the bag with arms relaxed is still far away from the ground.

Just checked, a normal sized shopping bag is well over 1ft about the ground when held with arms completely down. I'm about 6 feet tall.

Strange, the largest plastic grocery bags from any store around here (CT, USA) have more than a foot of clearance when held straight down.

Oh they're not plastic these are canvas bags! They have really long handles almost like a handbag.

Those are much closer, but still about 6 inches or more from the ground. Even the super size cold bag from costco is around 2 inches above the ground (though that does have shorter handles than the rest).

I find it depends, some bags already have small loops while others are large loops, and sometimes I tuck the loops if the bag's heavy.
On the tall side of the equation at 6'1" but still, thought I'd add my 2 cents.
