Another part in the Quest Failed series! A different perspective sorta~ It's a somewhat small story, but was still fun to write! Hope you enjoy being chow for a dragon as big as a mountain!
The sound of chirping birds disturbs you from slumber, with a soft grunt you push yourself up off the ground and yawn wide. You’re a mighty hunter, but not one that uses tools to do the dirty work, no, you are in fact a monster yourself! A Jaggi, on the verge of being classified a Great Jaggi in fact! Sure, there are plenty of creatures out there that make you feel insignificant in the food chain, but you are glad to at least be above all of those herbivores. Your pack had been venturing through the mountains, attempting to cross into the southern hemisphere for a few months now to find prey easier. The pack leader had perished along the way due to some up-start human hunters, you managed to escape along with two others.
Looking to your right, the pair of Jaggi pack-mates laid together on some tall grass. The back of your primal mind tells you to fight for the position of pack-leader, but there is some conflictions with the responsibility. You aren’t strong enough to defend the entire pack should it come down to it, you also know very little as far as the region goes. Maybe now’s the time to try and find out though, you won’t have to take the two younger Jaggi with you, you think to yourself. Return before they wake up, a simple task.. you hope. Looking up at the sun for a few moments, and getting a small understanding of where you might be, you set off in search of a path to take. Your quest; find out where the hell to go.
As it turns out, you are close to a great crossing point, where the northern mountains turn nearly entirely rocky, and then beyond that become thick with vegetation. So if you can just find a way to cross this place to the other side, all should be good! Looking around, you notice a huge pathway, or is it a cavern? Either way, it seems to span a great distance, traveling through the mountain. Although a concerning sight is noticed further down the path, a large human-made blockade that looks far too recently made. Seems like there is also a hole in the mountain leading inside, probably the human’s dwelling. You’d love to be able to sink your teeth into them.. but now’s not the time. You hop down a series of rocks onto what seems like a large stone bridge stretching across the big pathway, and as your claws touch the rock a large, ground shaking thump occurs! You squawk out briefly, confused and thinking either you are too heavy (somehow) for the bridge, or a large rock followed you down! Eyes closing, you curl up into a ball for a moment with a paw over your head. The thumping continues, alarms sound out and the rustling of metal and weapons can be heard soon after. You peek out and see a trio of heavily geared hunters rushing down the large pathway towards the source of the ground shaking thumps. You sneer and crawl silently to the edge, observing what’s about to happen.
A great, large red dragon head breaks through the dense fog that blankets the bottom of the stony pathway. You stare in awe and fear, in your few years alive, you’ve never seen something so… huge! The hunters begin to shout and set traps, bombs mostly it seemed. They was preparing to defend their position from the impressively large dragon. More and more of the massive Red dragon appeared, it seemed it was wingless too; although it’s girth was more than enough of a boon.. damn thing didn’t need to fly! The humans mention the name “Lao Shan Lung.” For whatever that’s worth, not like you can speak their tongue. The hunters although prepared to fight the dragon.. didn’t exactly seem like they’re all that experienced. One of them is immediately swatted away by a foot from the dragon, and it wasn’t even trying to smack them! A bunch of Felynes come out to cart the fool away, you can’t help but chirp with laughter! The remaining two strike their bombs and send explosions beneath the dragon which causes it to roar out in pain! You shrink back a little, inwardly you’re cheering the dragon on but don’t want to help it.. what could you do anyway? The hunters regroup and start making their way towards the bridge you’re on, but as they began to run in your direction an angry ‘aimed’ swat of the dragon’s claw sends both of them into the side of the mountain. More Felynes come out to grab the hunters, and cart them away. More bells begin to ring out, and it seems as though evacuation was occurring now.. the hunters had lost against the Lao. You give the large dragon a cheerful chirp! That sure showed them!
Eventually, the Lao made their way to the bridge and with a grand display, it raises up onto his rear legs. You stand in the very center of the bridge and look up with awe inspired eyes, the dragon was HUGE! It was tall enough that it was able to reach forward and rest it’s forepaws onto the bridge. Wait, it did what now? You look on both sides of you, and notice that you’ve been trapped between the dragon’s large paws. At first, the Lao didn’t seem to notice you, it was scanning the mountains for more threats, and suddenly, it lets out a loud warning roar that causes you to stagger a little, head lowering and frills laid flat to your head. Once it’s roar had finished, the dragon’s head lowered and one of it’s red eyes fixates on your small form. The dragon’s maw shutters with clicking teeth on the outside that it’s able to control. It seemed to be pondering what to do with you. At first, you was very fearful but upon not being instantly rend by it’s mighty claws, you praised the dragon with another chirp and a squawk. You probably should have remained fearful however, as without warning; the large dragon’s head lowers with it’s maw opening wide.. wider.. wider and then CHOMP. You was suddenly engulfed into the huge maw of the Mountain Dragon.
Inside the mouth of the Lao, you’re unable to keep yourself upright. The thick and meaty tongue beneath twists your small form about, rolling you side to side, beneath it’s tongue and then back towards it’s throat with little care for your wellbeing. You push and try to bite, but are unable to muster up enough strength to cause any harm to the incredibly thick flesh of the dragon’s insides. You wrap your tail around a large tooth as the dragon tries to swallow you down, head sticking just outside the entrance of the long rippling tunnel of flesh. An annoyed growl vibrates all around your body, the sound is piercingly loud and distracting. You’re grip loosens, and the tongue beneath shoves your slickened form into the awaiting gullet. With one half-assed swallow, the Lao tucks your slender form into it’s throat with rippling efficiency. The Lao’s throat works at you lazily, each pulse of peristalsis carries you a few feet, then stops for a few seconds. The constricting walls are heavy, you find yourself unable to even squirm within it’s confines! Two more waves of glrks and glurps is all it takes to pump you from throat to stomach; the strong muscular valve to the belly opens up and slides you right inside as effortlessly as you was swallowed.
The inside of the Lao’s stomach was thick with digestive goop already, the size of the dragon’s belly was as impressive as the rest of it.. it could probably swallow ten Jaggi your size and have some room to spare. You push and try to ram up against the folded stomach walls, but they simply contort and push you back into the steamy pit. Long gooey strands of saliva and digestive fluids stretch all across the pulsating stomach walls, tauntingly dripping onto your half-way submerged form. Frills drooping, you’re coming to terms with what’s going on after five minutes within the belly of this great dragon. What will come of those two smaller Jaggi, you wonder. After ten minutes, the heat and churning motions of the stomach become too much for your smaller form. You begin to slowly sink down into the thick juices of the Lao’s stomach, tired from the ordeal of being eaten. Your quest to find food didn’t go exactly as planned.
