Martial Eagle
This guy has a sad story. He came to the Raptor Center this past summer after being illegally caught in Africa. He was discovered by customs, and due to African law, cannot ever return to his homeland. The gash on his cere (skin above his beak) is from his struggles inside the crate he was forced into by the heartless people who captured him.
After being at the CRC for a week, he actually allowed me to come within a foot of him to place food near his perch. This was intense, yet terrifying to say the least, as this raptor finds it normal practice to take down antelope for dinner! I would highly suggest looking this species up on google so that you can fully appreciate their magnificent form.
A few facts for ya: This eagle normally reaches a length of 76–96 cm (30–38 in), weight of 3.1–6.2 kg (6.8–14 lb) and a wingspan of 188–260 cm (6.2–8.5 ft).
