Huh...so not only does a contract allow a mortal to become a demon/angel, it acts as a footnote.. Just in case they're too much of a problem, or a punishment needs to be met, they'll forget everything down to the point where they signed the contract. In Shad's case though, I hope that they inject some memories into his brain about his scars and lost eye. They can't just leave him to wonder about wounds he never remembered getting..or that might just be the loophole he needs to start remembering things.

Only the Angels wipe your mind if you screw up.

Demons just outright kill you.

But even then, I'd say the Angels are far more cruel, since Shad is going to wake up permanently disfigured and have no idea why. Also, what if a contractor had been an Angel for longer than their natural life span would allow? They'd wake up to find themselves in a time period that seems utterly alien to them, and all their friends and family being long since dead!

If you wake up and all of a sudden have a lost eye and scare that was not there yesterday as you remember. Or find that its years later from what you known it to be.

The only way to to id is when he wakes up, tell him he was in a terrible accident, and was in a comma for a long time.

How are you going to explain the black fallen angel wings though?

He's not going to have wings. He's going to be returned to a normal mortal. Only those who were naturally born as angels can become fallen. Contractors either get expelled, or killed.

He not a born angel. So he wont have those.
I spouse one way to look at it. The wings he had were a loan that comes with the contract.
