What is it with planetary species that makes them love building structures that exploit gravitational gradient? My guess is it has something to do with genetic memory of countless time they spent living feral in the treetops.
I suppose a civilization made of ascended axolotls would find their technological singularity by moving their entire species inside a layered Dyson sphere wrapped in a supermassive black hole to keep the intruders away. Big caves with running water and all.
Following that line of thought, foxes and wolves would be best suited to be space pirates. Foxes would mostly working alone, and wolves would be dragging a habitat station behind their raider fleet at distance.
