nope. everyone that feels like it just builds according to their combination of imagination and what they know how to do.
family cultural history, of course plays a role in each of the different building styles. and of course not everyone builds their own.
but there are no 'speculative developments' like we're familiar with, no building codes outside of cities, and cities are almost non-existent.
some people just like building so much they just do so wherever they can and leave what they build for those less able or inclined,
to be able to move into. culture respects any place someone else appears to be living, any place with obvious signs of occupancy,
but any place without them, is considered fair game.
but the creative impulse is almost universal, so most, a majority at any rate, do build their own,
with no restrictions beyond the level of each community consensus, as to what to build or how.
there is no having to own or buy land, just having to be far enough from where someone else has built,
for people to be able to walk between then without disturbing either.
instead of building trade professionals, there are teachers to learn from, and so of course the influence of their styles.
there are also people who craft 'snap together components like we can buy at hardware stores or 'ikea', that can be traded for at 'mathom' places.
since there's only one of me of course, i don't come close to scratching the surface of near the random mix of diversity typically to be expected.
one thing that construction in cameroi, and on lananara in general has in common though, is that everyone tends to build as small as suits their needs,
and not bigger then required to do so. the cultural aesthetic is one of succinctness.
also one person one shelter, is fairly common for roughly half the population. however people change their genetics to suit their personal taste on reaching adulthood, the dominant sapient species are born mostly 'cat-like', or cat-weasil i guess i should say, and that does continue to influence perspective, however an individual redesigns their outward physical form and appearance.
