Perhaps this was his first human encounter and not aware of exactly how sentient these delectable, soft, clawless, hornless, furless, easy to digest, and perfectly shaped body for easy ingestion creatures really are. It would seem perfectly apparent to him that these helpless 'food creatures' were genetically developed purely for pleasurable consumption by a far more intelligent apex predator species, much like himself on his own planet. Obviously he had the good luck to stumble on what could only be a convenient feeding station for the ruling predators shortly after his arrival, located in wilderness recreational area, to dissuade the ruling species from consuming the native wildlife. Maybe he will even ignore the usual protocol and turn off his cloaking device to make "first contact" with the ruling species, and who knows, maybe he will be presented with a small 'breeding colony' of these delicious morsels to bring back to his own planet!
