Thought of this yesterday:
1. Kathy calls her out, a formal challenge.
2. Jinjurr, confident that she can beat Kathy at anything, let's her name the weapon.
3. Jinjurr looks gobsmacked as Kathy calls a dance off.
4. Unable to counter the heiress's twerking, Jinjurr is defeated.
5. It was said ever after "Twas booty killed the Beast."

I looked up the page and read that she's battling cancer. For the second time.

I've seen that close up at the Out of Africa Wildlife Park in AZ - short drive from my home. They have 3 layers of fencing around parts of the Hyena enclosure - close to where folks with small children gather. The Hyenas will watch the kiddos intently and yawn and look very very hungry. Parents tend to freak out and the kiddos are all going "Doggy!" [I tend to think "Wrong species and web comic.. ]
There's a small zoo near San Antonio in Texas that has two hyenas (and wolves, alligators, lions, pumas, and a bunch of other stuff.) They have shows at a certain time every day where they feed the carnivores.
The pumas are polite and line up to dine like gigantic house cats--they even mew.
The hyenas sleep until about ten minutes before feeding time, then they get up and starts to stare in the direction the meat wagon comes from. I mean, you can see them checking their watches. When the keeper with the chicken pieces comes, they start to giggle and lope along the fence. They grab the meat and gulp it down on one or two bites.
Then they go back to sleep.
In talking with the keeper, he said, "They're fine in the daytime. But nobody wants to go near them at night..."
I thought about the housing development near this zoo, and how they must hear the roars of lions, the whoops and moans of the hyenas, and the howls of the wolves at night...

Oh Out of Africa is right next to the Yavapai County Jail - the Roars of all the big cats, etc tend to scare the crud out of new arrivals to the County Lock up. I work alongside some of the Deptuties, they say the looks on some of the offenders faces is priceless. Before they were issued bodycams - some of the Deputies used to kid about new arrivals got to face the cats in the morning....
Okay, everyone else is noticing the ladyenas shouting (As they should), but I'm the oddball that notices (even with Kathy front and center shouting) that Freddy is grinning aprovingly of his future wife.
Is there something he knows that the rest of us do not? Need more Popcorn for this. I'll be back with a dumptruck. Who else wants one?

Hm. I don’t want to come off as rude or heartless or validate Jinjur’s opinion or thinking “she may have a point” (GOD no) but I find it hard to believe that this is so horrible when this comic shown multiple times that your next door neighbor or some random person on the street could be your next potential meal. See this makes me go, “how is this crossing the line here?”
That is in fact a "plot hole." Songween and her cronies had live bunnies for breakfast. Kathy herself has killed and eaten other animals over the course of the story.
The difference here is that she is remembering the little fawn whose life she saved, and the promise she made to it that "I am a hyena you can trust." Seeing the weeping fawn in the herd struck a nerve with her--she realizes that this is WRONG, killing people and eating them for dinner entertainment. She also knows Jinjur is doing this to try to embarrass her--or if not her, than the Lieutenant, who has stated on several occasions that he abhors hunting and doesn't think "alive and screaming" should be a flavor choice.
And that's another difference: these are alive. These are here to be eaten alive. Kathy has always had killed-and-cooked food, or at least killed-first food. The difference is like that of having a roasted chicken brought to you, and having a live chicken put on your plate.
In Kathy's world, back in America, there are rules governing hunting. You can't kill someone who works with you, or who lives within five miles of you. The dead are dressed for the grocery store, with their hides preserved for the funeral (so Kathy's dad is a taxidermist/mortician/butcher.) The dead are never wasted, with the meat being consumed. And the animals all have a different attitude toward dying than we humans do--they understand that it's a part of life. They may not personally want to die today, but they are not so broken up over the prospect as we are. And of course, there's a lot of processed food, like kibble and SPAM (scientifically produced animal matter.)
So right now, in the strip, I'm playing toward my human audience. How the hyena audience receives Kathy's defiant gesture is yet to be seen.

Oh. I see now. Ok, this makes more sense to me now that I'm hearing this, but what about Sandy? She doesn't show much if any of the concerns Kathy would of have of that idea (she being part of the problem with these hyenas, if you ask me). I'm not saying Sandy would have stop this if play this role Kathy is in but I'm sure that she would have hesitant over this than having Kathy's knee jerk reaction.
