I've been really fascinated with the whole scene. If you look at my gallery, there's a pic of my Triumph Rocket III - tell me, wouldn't that make an awesome basis for a steampunk-look conversion? Already has the big, blocky (though styled attractively), forged look going for it!

I can't seem to find the link anymore, or I'd send it to you - these clockwork wheels were amazing! Gears 'n levers 'n such that all move as the bike rolls down the road! Hideously expensive (on the order of $10k per), but man oh man...
Yeah... hammered copper full-disc covers would work nicely. Maybe machine-turned brass? I'm thinking of borrowing a few cues from that car in League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.
