Today was supposed to be a good day but started out rather badly. I got a phone call from my parents that my kitty Renfro was hurt and looked like he may have been hit by a car. He was dragging his back legs and obviously in pain. My dad had to lift up the couch because he hid under it while in pain.
Dad drove to meet me at my apartment and we went to the emergency vet a few minutes from my place. The vet determined that Renfro got a blood clot lodged where the aorta splits to the 2 femral arteries. He lost the use of his back legs and the condition was quite painful for him. The vet said that he had about a 50% chance to recover the use of his legs with the disolving of the blood clot, but even with medications to help, he still may die.
After hearing the obvious pain when he cried every time he moved and the fact that even if he does recover, then he would almost for sure have the same thing happen again in the future. It was so hard to do so, but to remove him from the pain, we signed to have him put to sleep. If anyone else had heard him cry just from trying to move his body, I think they would understand. This was also very sudden and unexpected. My dad let him out because he always wants out and then in about 1/2 hour he was crying loudly and came in dragging his back legs.
I spent some time sitting and cuddling him and then they took him for his injection. I will forever miss him, he was a part of my life for 11 1/2 years. I was there when he was born.
(Please excuse any spelling errors.)

thanks for the message.
The vet actually confirmed he was not hit by a car, just had a blood clot. I guess my post was not that great cause i was rather upset when i wrote it. Since then, my parents talked witha cousin of mine who is a vet and she agreed that there was nothing else that we could have done.
i miss him a lot but i'm glad he is no longer in pain.
(I still fail at replying properly sometimes.)
