That is a black racer. Small, black, and not very dangerous. Though last time I handled one it managed to latch onto my glove's index finger pretty well, so be careful around the little buggers.

used to chase red racers around out here as a kid. they where so much fun. they where very gentle and never bit unless you handled them to much. but they would give plenty of warnings before then. thats a tiny one though, unless the blacks are that much smaller than the reds at 2-3 feet
That's actually a tiny one. They get about 2 to 3 feet as well, but they are apparently far more aggressive than red racers. These guys refuse to get used to handling and will go crazy at being handled even after months of captivity. They're also fully willing to go at you if they think it'll scare you away.
