Filed as "Mammals/Other", because I got a bug up my rear to write an entire baroque-style passion between today and Easter, and I figure Jesus is a shaven, hairless chimpanzee like the rest of us.
This is an organ processional based loosely off a Gregorian one-liner Introit for one of the Lenten preparations for Easter. There are some minor rendering bugs in the midi output that come of me having rattled this off in a half-hour tonight. It'll move to scraps some.. but I figured that some form of sign that I was still alive was in order.
When it's gloomy and doomy weather-wise outside, crucifixion looks like a pretty appealing alternative.

Once upon a time, not so very long ago, I was a priestly candidate. These days I'm a little bit more of a skeptic about some things, but the whole "christian principles" idea really appeals to me, so I try to do the whole "be good to people, share your stuff, don't be too wasteful, don't force your crap on other people" spiritual thing.
That, and good sacred art and pageantry still make me see and feel God. I'm not sure how to come to terms with that aspect. ;)

Hee. Speaking of a la carte: I was originally thinking to try to do a whole passion setting, but I can't find any non-suck english words, so I've decided to do a prelude, the seven sentences, and the associated hymns, and a recessional for the Three Hours' Agony. It could be construed as totally wrong, but it's fun to write for the organ. :)
I lucked out. My great-grandmother saw to it that I ended up going to the Dominican church in my hometown, which kept the Dominican rite, or off to the church where they just ignored Vatican II- so much so that they'd eventually go schismatic and join SSPX...
No guitar mass for me.
