"Out for a leisurely stroll, your Highness? Tsk, tsk, tsk! You know that’s not allowed!"
Damnit, Cole! That suit cost like 300 rupees and now it's ruined!
Decided to be a little indulgent in-between commissions and redraw one of my personal favorite pictures, which is this fanart of Chancellor Cole (in a more demonic look because the poor leprechaun man deserves it) from The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks from 2013. You know, just as a measure of my abilities and to see how much I improved.

I can definitely say that I improved, at the very least with my inking and coloring. And hopefully Cole's wings actually look like they can fly now.
Can't wait to revisit this in another five years and see how much I improve from that!
I still have the headcanon that Chancellor Cole does have a more demonic appearance than what you see in the game so he isn't actually "just" a little angry short dude, it's just that he uses very strong shapeshifting magicks to keep himself nice and "tidy" because although wings look very cool, they're super redundant if you know how to hover and teleport, so him doing this is purely an intimidation tactic (a very messy, wardrobe-destroying one at that) and nothing more. His wings are actually pretty pathetic because he barely exercises them at all and I'm sure if you asked him to fly anywhere with just them rather than using magic to levitate himself, he'll get major muscle cramps and probably be super winded. It'd be like asking a nerd to suddenly run a marathon at a track meet.
And of course he has a tail too. Like the wings, the tail is mostly magicked away at all times because Cole can't really do anything with it and it just gets caught on things. Most demons that have them usually end up losing them permanently in combat anyway. Demons that do keep their tails tend to style the hair into a more traditional spaded shape, which led a lot of Hylian illustrators to draw their tails all wrong.
He has wings partly as a callback to Batreaux from Skyward Sword, because I imagine that they're from the same bloodline (which Cole views rather unfavorably because Batreaux is pretty unpopular with other demons) and that Batreaux's spirit is very, very disappointed in his greatgreatgreatgreatgreatgreatgreatgreatgrandson's villainy.
I mean, how could Batreaux know that one of his ancestors thousands of years down the line would turn out to be such a little asshole?
