It's never too early to GET SPOOKY.
These are monsters and demons and magic shenanigan designs, each with a little bit of lore for you to use for the character or completely ignore!

I will happily do custom one offs if you give me basic info and artistic freedom. I'll likely make another batch these are so fun! If you missed one and want a similar one let me know I'll make some more of that kind (ex: demon/vampire kid, Gatekeepers, etc.)

A trick or treater who received a potion from that witch at the really cool spooky house near the graveyard. They thought was just a sweet candy drink. Turns out it was a real wicked witch! And the potion turned this poor child into a fox-like creature. Maybe it'll wear off. Maybe it's just a bad dream. Maybe they were actually always a fox. It's a night of mischief after all.

The Gatekeeper | Toyhou.se link
A demon of sorts. With their trusty magic shovel they dig a hole in the ground, and ring the green bell, creating a gateway to another world. The bell also calls inhabitants of the other world to come out and play on spooky nights for tricks and treats. They ring the bell and it calls them all back to return home. Then they fill the hole back up so no one accidentally falls into the other world by mistake.

The horseman is an invisible spook that turns upset, lost, or mischievous children into a horse-like monster, all that stays the same is their face.
It's magic lasts for as long as the person is experiencing negative emotions. If they're in a positive state they can change back. Depending on the horseman spook they might encourage positive or negative emotions depending on what they want.
If the person stays negative and doesn't break the curse themselves, the magic usually wears off at sunset and magicks them home.
If the cursed person didn't get to go trick or treating because of the curse, the horseman leaves them with the night's worth of candy they would've gotten.

This one is a slime, but they like to look like a snail. They also like to eat candy. Or stick possibly they just it into their body to look cuter. Maybe to lure greedy children away to cause mischief. Depends on the slime probably.
Maybe they're actually a candy based slime that stays healthy by eating candy, and for all we know, they taste like strawberry jello. But it's probably not a good idea to lick them. That might be rude.

A common sight in land of monsters, and on Halloween night. This is a werewolf! Well. A 1/2 werewolf. This is about as wolfy as they can get. Maybe feeding them candy can help them become a full werewolf form. Maybe they're actually a full werewolf. I don't know. Only they do. We should probably ask.

Mischievous Spirit | Toyhou.se link
This one's a spirit that likes to dress up and go trick or treating with kids and maybe cause a few innocent tricks. It usually looks like a black cat but sometimes it slips up and starts to look more naturally scary.
Since it's a spirit -like monster, it just clips through the pumpkins if it wants to or not. I bet it can wear whatever it wants. If it hides inside of the pumpkins, it just looks like two of them stacked on top of each other. Kind of like a spooky snowman.

A candle-like creature, they're generally a friendly sort that helps lost kids find their home. They often get mistaken for crying children themselves and some people try to help them find home without realizing they're not actually humans, or lost.

Likely a sub-type of vampires or something similar. (Unless they actually ARE a vampire and I'm just terribly mistaken.) I'm not sure what it drinks, blood, juice, draining colors from objects of a certain hue? Who knows. All I DO know is that it is stored in their horns, which are similar to a Magic Bar in video games. If their horns are empty they're low energy and can't use magic. But if it's full they have a whole lot they can do surely.
