That's an eastern lubber grasshopper. Romalea microptera (Beauvois). They're freakin' huge. They're also toxic, capable of spraying foamy irritants, they hiss, and to top it all off they'll throw up on you. My personal experience has shown them to be slightly aggressive as well. I hate them. Anyway, they still look awesome and aren't as crop destructive as their smaller cousins... so cool points in their favor.
