HERES A NEW ONE! NOW WITH THE EXTRA STUFF I WANTED TO MENTION. But also not enough room unless I was gonna make a HUUUUGE file that would likely kill my iPad trying to upload haha. This is considered Blaze’s true form. This was the form they had when first born, the rest of the forms were developed as they grew and became familiar with humans and utilized their shapeshifting.
Anyway let’s cover the extra info ye?
Keeping this general tagged, if it should be tagged mature lemme know
Edit 26th March, 2020: Labeled palettes, additional text info on wings on image
Edit 17th June, 2020: Smoothened the first plate to account for their story, edited ‘tusks’ to be longer

MAIN INFORMATION
Species: Octobird
Sex: Yes. (They have both sex characteristics. It’s all concealed within a cloaca)
Age: Adult (twenties in human years)
Size: Fuck-off big. But not fully kaiju size so not large enough to terrorize a whole city (not that they can’t. It’s just some buildings will be bigger than them)
ABILITIES
They have been seen with glowing eyes with a hypnotic pattern to confuse and subdue other creatures, either to avoid further confrontation or to make easy food.
They’ve also a serrated stinger in each tail that can slide out and inject a toxin that causes paralysis and organ failure, blindness has also been documented. Touching the toxin itself is more likely to cause paralysis and blindness, whereas the organ troubles comes last then.
They have a bite force that’s been strong enough to break our submarines in half, one of the few reported deaths of our crew but it is assumed they only attacked as we were breaching their personal space and came across aggressive to them. Now we’ve been taught to go in reverse and turn away and they’ll leave it alone. Mostly.
Their tongue is extremely long, our drawings don’t even begin to show the sheer length of it. They can shoot it out from the gap at the front of their mouth, stabbing nearby prey and drag them back to their jaws where they then feast.
Multiple tails, six in total have been noticed on this specimen, allowing them to swim far faster than anything else we’ve seen. They can be unfurled and used to grab onto objects with a strong grip. These have also been seen supporting their weight when on land before they alter their wings to use as front limbs. But it looks quite freaky.
They have remarkable night-vision and can see in the murky waters as well with ease it appears, often sporting a third eye-lid whilst beneath the surface.
BEHAVIOUR, HABITAT AND CAPABILITIES
Diet: Primarily larger sea creatures, favors sea leopards and orcas. Will prey on other sea predators such as sharks and giant squid. They’re also one of the fewer species that’ll actively eat sunfish (though not for nutritional reasons, more a snack and also they just can’t stand them) They will feast on penguins or other animals and fish if their primary diet preference is lacking.
It is extremely rare that they’ll feast on a human at random. They’re only prone to human attacks if said human show themselves as a threat. (Which already is hard, c’mon it’s a huge sea-beast)
Habitat: They travel around in the seas but tend to prefer colder areas for hunting. But will move areas when food becomes scarce. They often live in underwater caves, away from other creatures and only come out to hunt. They can often be found in Norwegian waters (why? Because I can!) but will also travel to more tropical areas. They stick to the deeper parts of the sea where a human usually can’t go.
Behaviour: Relatively passive when not threatened and shows an innocent curiosity to manmade objects. They can be spotted following submarines and robots used to explore the sea floor. Occasionally they accidentally break these robots from nudging and trying to interact with it. There have been cases of damaging submarines but so far very few cases of complete destruction has been reported. Like as if they learned to be more careful. They’re interested in people most times and seem to take a liking to those not suited up in diving gear. Likely taking the sight of exposed skin as a sign of ‘I’m not a threat, I’m only here to swim and mind my own’. However they’ve been reported to get extremely aggressive to anything resembling military, from people, objects and machines/vehicles. We’re under the assumption they’ve had a terrible experience with these and want them gone as soon as possible, attempts to show that it is harmless have failed every time. They won’t listen to reason in this case, screeching and destroying everything in sight until nothing that set them off is left intact.
They do however show a much more cautious nature to those suited up, depending how close they get. If a diver approaches them too fast, they may take it as a challenge and get territorial. They will attack humans who approach them with aggression, often ending up with them being hit by their toxin or crushed in their jaws. They appear to not take too kindly to anyone trying to subdue or attack them. They seem to have some soft spots and may calm down a lot faster when approached by these specific individuals who go into these spots, one being able to pretty much control them.
They communicate via thrills, rumbles and an extremely shrill, loud screech that can cause a person to instantly burst if they’re too close, but most cases with the right distance it only leaves the ears ringing for a bit. This screech is also used to disorient prey and threats. The sound travel better underwater besides their cry which can be heard from miles when on land.
While they’re often found in the sea, they can be spotted on land too, where their wings take on a different shape to accommodate their weight and support them walking. They have been spotted with shapeshifting abilities that allow them to alter their form to fit them as they please. Seeming aware of themselves and show a nearly human-like attitude at points. They have been described as ‘sassy with snark’
They’ve been shown capable to understand human speech and respond accordingly, smart enough to use gestures to reply back, yes or no questions work best with them as they seem unable to vocalize back and their body is much too big to write any replies. Devices made to translate their thought into words have been used at points, further proving their more sassy nature, often back-talking and showing distaste.
MATING BEHAVIOUR
Despite being the only variation of the octobird we’ve found, they exhibit similar mating behaviours. During the warmer season, in the end of spring they will cry out with a more unique sound, often compared to a bird’s song, long, loud yet not piercing. They seem not to discriminate between species and can be seen trying to court other animals, usually the other large monsters amongst the world.
They are seen raising their fin-like wings up and spread them, setting off a glowing pattern that looks like a spider, slowly swaying the appendages and their multitude of tails in varying motions to ‘dance’ before bowing to show off the dorsal parts and their plated back to show they’ve a lovely pattern and the plating to protect their potential mate from other threats. Unfortunately since most animals won’t respond to their advances they face rejection a lot.
Other Octobird specimen will occasionally show interest. They however do not mate for life and it’s easier explained as a hookup and then they leave each other. Which sometimes seems to depress this creature, but it’s short-term this low moment as they carry on their ventures. Whether they can breed or not is not recorded, we have not seen any offspring similar to them so it is assumed they are sterile and unable to breed.
