For travel, meat is mixed in brine, then cooked in a smoke hut for several hours to became a tough jerky.
The meat is finally wrapped in corn husks and placed in small crates of rice to keep dry.
The rice can also be cooked if desired. All food remains fresh up to six months or a year depending on how it is stored.
Fruits and vegetables are more difficult to keep fresh, and are often eaten immediately or turned it jams or roasted over the fire.
As for guilds, outposts, and strongholds where fresh meat is more readily available. It is hunted and eaten fresh. Bigger game such as bears and elk are divided into cadavers to be strung up and dried. The bigger portions are cut into serving portions at meal time as they don't hold as long as smaller portions.
