A painted portrait of my character, Siggy. With tiny modifications to his overall design.
While the lineart and shading involved is fairly standard, I did pushed myself outside my comfort zone and attempt to do a proper digital painting, mixing colours, and using darks and lights that isn't pure white or black. I'm glad I took the time to experiment with the colouring. At some point with more confidence, I'll attempt to adapt more of what I've learned from all this into my future art.

Not quite. I used a base colour, then added a darker tone (that's several shades different from red, like purple), and then painted highlights using a colour of the background's light source (which is light blue) The use of blue and purple is subtle, but I feel it looks better than just using darker and lighter shades of red.
And the background too. There's bits of the entire colour palate in it to help make the entire painting more unified.
