Time for an update, a few of you seemed interested in this new snake's well being!
For those of you wondering what I'm talking about check out this Cute Smile Pic of him with description of his previous conditions before I rescued him (with my amazing commissioners help)!
So this particular pic was one of the first I got of him, I took a few today but they were blurry, he was too hyper and happy and jus having fun being a snake!
The boa's follow up vet ap was today and, good news, all's looking good! He had a viral infection and a bacterial infection, but the shots he's been on past few weeks have really made a massive improvement! He's still got a little bit of scale rot, few small red spots, so we're sticking with the quarantine and cleaning process until he's all cleared up! Don't want our other snakes to get sick
Next time I get a good picture of him I'll share it, until then I just can't thank you guys enough for commissioning me. No joke, if it weren't for you, he was facing a dark fate. No one else wanted him, and his viral infection would have gotten so much worse. So, you saved a life! And I'm going to do what I can to make his new home perfect. I wish I could describe how amazing this snake is, but my words often fail me. I'll say he's such a remarkably good boy for being neglected. He didn't fight me during his shots, he loves pushing his face against mine and holding it there--soft streak, he's very observant, and also has a silly streak. Just amazing.
If you guys are still interested in helping me out (gotta pay part of the vet bill yet, plus extra bills this month) maybe check out my recent submission of eggs! ---> https://www.furaffinity.net/view/32950325/
and as I mentioned in my previous boa post-- if you'd like a pet, a fairly cheap and low maintenance pet, consider getting a snake! The set up in the beginning can be pricey, but after that it's a few bucks a month for food. There are plenty of reptiles out there that need good homes, yours could be one of them!
Thanks for reading all this! You all know I don't post about myself or life that often, but cmon! Cute snakes! And this guy....still needs a name 8/ thinking's something like Jericho, Salem, max, Jake, Johnny (rotten lol) vinny pshhhh if you guys have thoughts please share em!

Always nice to see snake pics and have an update!
Although I used to say the same thing about reptiles -- it's good to remember the sometimes massive electrical bills for heat and humidity, especially demanding species that need both steady ambient heat, basking heat, and some way to regulate humidity. Humidity doesn't have to be expensive at all if your setup is correct and you're willing to manually monitor it daily, but those heating bills get BRUTAL if you have multiple reptiles, and even add up pretty fast with one or two tanks running constantly, all day, for months and years. I have kept MANY reptiles for many, many years, worked with them professionally in the field as a career, and rescued quite a few in terrible shape, including my only remaining lizard - and I have certainly watched the heating bills get big FAST, even with a few reptiles compared to keeping none at all. (One lizard, and one snake enclosure remaining after all these years.) And still, the cost to heat them all year is certainly noticeable! With the ones that hibernate (like the north american colubrids) all winter it 's not as bad - but you still run into the issue of the heat in the house all summer when they're awake and then the lack of heat when it would be nice to have a bit extra in the winter. Dunno if it's like that where you are, but it gets HOT here in summer and the enclosures have to compete with the air conditioning when it gets too hot -- you can get around this by building really big fancy custom enclosures with heat INSIDE a mostly insulated 'box', but that, of course, comes with its own set of huge costs! (Talking increases of hundreds of dollars a month for a couple reptiles depending on where you get your electricity.)
Anyways, not to detract, I just find people underestimate the extra heating costs if they're being careful about their finances or trying to pay the bills and don't have tons of extra cash just lying around.

You do bring up a good point, if you have more than a few the electricity and heat bill will go up with having the vivs constantly running. We've only got 3 and haven't had any drastic rise in bills but depending on where one is, that may not be the case. And it is a very fair point to mention, especially if someone's planning on starting a collection--it'd definitely be wise to monitor the electricity bill and factoring it in. And it's always wise to have extra cash on hand for any pet in case of emergencies!
Ps i think it's super rad you got to work with reptiles professionally!

Thanks! Honestly it was awesome job and pretty nice to get up in the morning and go out looking for snakes, etc .. it was, for a while, reptiles as a career, art as a hobby, and both were passions of mine, but I found I switched later to reptiles as a hobby, art as a career, and it's been a bit better of a fit. Working for somebody else, even in the capacity where you're alone most of the time in the field, was still not quite right for me!
I think it's pretty cool that you're into reptiles and we can get fun updates like this from random herp people in the furry community. :)

Aaa I'm so glad to hear and see that he's doing well, Eisenheim! That really makes me happy, and my heart is all warm and fuzzy. I'm really glad you took him home and cared for him when no one else would. You're a wonderful guy, never forget that. Thank you for keeping us updated, I look forward to more! :D
it makes me sad too it seems people put less value on their lives because they can't run up to the door and smother you with kisses and fur when you get back from work
but reptiles are special in their own way, if people get past the 'oh scary' judgement I think a lot of people would enjoy them!
anyways that's awesome! skinks and geckos are so cute, what kind of snake are you looking at getting?
